With Canada playing their first game in Toronto and then next two in Vancouver. Winnig the group would mean a rest and then playing last 32 in LA as well. Quote

They will either all be in pot 4 or alternatively they will take the pot of the highest ranked team in the PO pathway. Quote

Let's be honest, they were waiting until they saw the draw to see how much of a risk they were taking. If it's done on Italy's rating, it could end up that you have the world number 70 something in Pot 2. Quote

Not only that but Bolivia could also qualify via play offs meaning South America could have 70% of it's teams at WC 2026. That would be like UEFA having 33-34 teams at a WC (rather than 16). Quote

Orraloon Posted November 20 Posted November 20 If it just went on rankings then 26 of the teams would be from UEFA. That wouldn't be much of a "World" Cup. South American teams have won the WC 10 times out of 22. You could argue that they should get 45% on the places except they don't have enough teams for that. Just let all 10 of them in, which would make it much more interesting. There are far too many teams from UEFA just playing much the same style of football. It gets boring. Quote

Well if you don't want to face one of the hosts it will be Brazil or Argentina. FIFA won't allow UEFA group winners to face each other in the group stages so we cannot face Spain, France, England, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium and Germany from Pot 1. In Pot 2 we cannot draw Croatia or Switzerland so it's one from Morocco, Italy/Wales etc, Colombia, Uruguay,, Japan, Senegal, Iran, Denmark/Ireland etc, South Korea or Ecuador. We can theoretically draw any team that is in Pot 4. Going on that added info I would take:- Canada Iran SCOTLAND Curacao The group of death potentially being:- Argentina Morocco SCOTLAND Ghana Quote

It would be possible to have Scotland in a group such as:- Spain Croatia Scotland Haiti Hardly a global feel to it. Quote
