Allocation - World Cup 2026 - Tartan Army Message Board Jump to content

Just posted this on another thread, didn’t realise there was WC section!

Everyone is going to be thinking it this morning! How many tickets are we gona get allocated for the World Cup. I have read that each FA gets between 8-12% of the stadium.

So looking like 12-15 points required to guarantee a ticket?

Wonder if the SFA will do a tiered approach this time?

Hope you are right, I’m only on 10 points.

I think demand will be mega. Not confident I’ll get one!

I wouldn’t be so sure. Everyman and their dog went to Germany because it was easy/cheap to get to. I doubt everyone that’s got 12/13 points just by going to home games will be heading out for all three group games

I think anyone in the SSC who wants one, will get one.

This. It's a much longer group stage than the Euros, 8 days encompassed all of our group games at the Euros compared to 11-13 next summer. Germany is a short hop to get to with similar prices to here, two weeks in America is going to be a lot more expensive.

I got lucky in the Visa Pre-Sale lottery.

3 category C tickets cost around 500 quid.

If we get either Mexico, USA or Canada (the hosts) in the opening game, there is a supplement to be be paid of either $400 or $600.

Flight wise, NY and Miami are the easiest to get to, NY you can get to Philly easily.

Any Mexican city will be tricky so book asap!

Think the cost will be prohibitive to even many of the supporters that go to most away games.Germany for a fortnight was just about doable .This will take it onto a new level of affordability for most.Would love to go but unless the lottery comes up it won't be happening unfortunately.

This. The expense will be eye watering. My Dad who’s been going with me to games for over 20 years has had to be cajoled. Thats with me offering to put the trip on my Credit Card.

No way I’m missing it, or having him missing it.

Na, it’s still 9 days between all group games. Plus minimum 2 days travel.

Tell a lie, it’s 12 days. So two weeks out

I'd consider heading out there with guaranteed tickets but I hardly have any points anyway. It'll cost thousands just to attend one match with flights and accommodation. That's hard to justify.

Yes.If you were going for the two weeks group matches and attending all Scotland matches then it would surely be £4000 minimum.Probably a lot more.Sure a lot of guys don't have that sort of money .Some obviously do but nowhere near the numbers that followed us to Germany.

It would be impressive if even 20-30k TA make it out there. It's a massive continent and completely different  to nipping over to Germany for a few days. There'll be a quite a few Scots based in North America who should be able to make more of it hopefully.

I'm sure the threshold for Germany dropped to at least 10 points, I'm sure someone can fill us in.

I'd be surprised if it didn't go down to 8 points or lower this time at least.

I'm on 12 points, the cumulative folk on that total is 9771. I'd be surprised if more than half of that travel, meaning 12 points would be fine for any stadium including the lower capacity stadiums.

I've personally not decided. Have accommodation options in Houston, so it is tempting to book flights now and travel internally if needed.

Honestly think it would be more than impressive if 20-30 thousand could manage to make that financial commitment to travel .Would think maybe 10000 travelling from Scotland would be nearer the mark.Obviously a good few thousand more who live in the usa or canada would swell the numbers .

Aye

If you look at Mexico 86 the numbers that travelled was low - probably only a few thousand

The cheapest option is probably going to be Canada

Yes.Just think the reality of the ridiculous cost of going to this World Cup will keep the numbers to well under 10000 to be honest. Just not practical for so many who would be deperate to go.

I'm on 12 so likely to get tickets although unlikely fans first ones so hopefully they won't be just category 1 left.

First issue for me is potentially affording the ticket in December. Do we think the association ones will go on sale a week or 2 after the draw. From my memory that was the case for the euros but it's also not an ideal time for a lot of fans to be shelling out.

Yes I am on 12 too but lets be honest not everyone (far from it) is going to be able to afford it so I feel sure that even if you have the lowest band of points in the SSC if you want a ticket you will get one.

Totally agree! This is way out of many fans price ranges.

Yeah you are probably right. 10k is maybe more realistic.

I got the Germany and Hungary games on 10 points. We got 10,000 tickets for every game at the Euros though. Not sure that’ll be the case for the WC but even then, I reckon anyone with a campaigns worth of points to get a chance of tickets.

Would also imagine re-sell tickets will be easy to come by unless we draw one of the hosts or the ‘glamour’ teams. Curacao/Cape Verde etc will have about 100 fans there.
