Hi

I only have 12 points so unlikely to get away tickets and I am looking for advice

First time visit to Athens

Does anyone know where the Scotland fans will be located in stadium ?

And

If I bought tickets online is it safer to be located close to the Scots fans or other places.

Is it best to stay in  Central Athens or Piraeus nearer the stadium

Thanks

We were in Block 27 last time.

It was a bit of a mess to be honest. The stewards ended up feeding some of us into the home block next to the away section. Even though I had a ticket in the away section, I watched the match from a home section.

Athens v Piraeus?

I stayed in Athens last time, but spent match day in Piraeus. That approach might appeal to you too.

In Athens, stay on or around Ermou Street and you'll be near the TA action.

I intend to head out early next time to see the historic Athens sights. Planning on staying in Athens, but possibly moving to Piraeus for the weekend. For no other reason other than I like the idea of experiencing a night out in Piraeus.

The Olympiacos stadium has it's own metro station and getting back to Athens centre (5 or 6 stops) was one of the easiest post-match journey's I've ever experienced.

Section 24 is right next to SFA section - you can buy these now on Ticombo.  Greeks were brand new about it in March.

Since Greece are out and demand will drop drastically you could wait for Greek ticketmaster which will be the week before the game (roughly).

We stayed at the Olympic Hotel in Piraeus (£40 per night per room) which is literally a stones throw from the stadium and the subway station that is 7 stops and 25 minutes to the centre of Athens. We're booked up for there again.

Others have covered off the stadium...

We stayed right on the Plaka... loads of cafes/bars etc, looks on to the Acropolis, and a couple of minutes from Monastiraki metro station. As easy as pie to get to the ground or to Piraeus from there.

We had a couple of pals further in towards Ominoia in an air bnb and they only moved in and out by taxi as said it was a tad edgy.

Thanks all.

Really really helpful.

As you say the Greeks are out so I guess getting a ticket will be pretty easy.

I ll leave it until the website opens about a week before ....

But if anyone knows anything about cheap  hospitality deals that would be fun

Air bnb has always been a good deal for me.Fraction of the cost of hotels.Just make sure you check the area of the air bnb. I stayed in Syntagma square last time and it was pretty central and only a stop or two on the metro from Monastiraki where a lot of the pubs were.

Did you have to register an account with Ticketmastergreece and did you just put in your uk address etc?

To be honest, Syntagma and Monastiraki squares are so close together, you may as well walk it.

Stay anywhere on (or either side of) Ermou Street and you'll be close to the action.
