World Cup Prices

The prices for the World Cup next year are absolutely insane.

I dont know how people could pay what they are asking in all honesty, there will be thousands who are unable to pay them, and others who just couldn't justify it. So much for the peoples game.

Is it known if the the FA's of the teams involved get tickets to allocate to their supporters club? That article reads like they don't which is hard to believe.

I’ve not even read the detail, but yes - the FA’s will get tickets.

Cheapest tickets are around £45 which isn’t a kick in the arse off the fans first tickets. Not that I’m defending the prices. The prices in general are a disgrace as are the prices UEFA charged last year for the majority of tickets.

If we qualify I'll likely just go for a week and take in the first two games. It's gonna be an extremely expensive trip.

Be more ex pats at games than those travelling id guess

At France 98 I was 18 and fannied out of going watch Scotland myself - could have gone with England mates but couldn't be arsed getting twatted by riot police then having to travel on my own to watch Scotland so said I'd defo go the next time we qualified.  Don't know if it is getting old but I wouldn't have gone Qatar and looking at the host cities there's only a couple I'd be slightly interested in visiting.  I'd be much more interested in going to Brazil if the women qualified as the blokes one just looks plastic and shit again apart from Mexico and at a push Seattle.

Difference is that they’re up the arse end of the stadium as opposed to euros where the fans first were down next to pitch level.

Not surprised by this at all. MLS fans have been up in arms about the introduction of dynamic pricing since the likes of Messi have arrived. Matches are usually anything between $15-$50 normally but as soon as Inter Miami come to town the prices go up by more than 10 times that. This was always going to happen with the World Cup as soon as it went to the US

Not necessarily a bad thing depending on the stadium. I’d rather be up the back than down the front behind the goals at Hampden for example. 

It will be very difficult to get any of the cheaper tickets anyway I suspect so if we do qualify it’s going to cost a lot of money to go.

I was planning on going but there is a limit on what I can afford.  I am thinking I am more likely to visit a fan zone and enjoy a match there.  I want to go to see a WC match, but I am reluctant to get tickets until I know we are there as those take precedence. That said, if Scotland do make it, I am likely going to make an emotion decision and do my upmost.  I am within a 6 hours' drive of 3 stadiums.

Big gig tickets in North America are similarly astronomical now.

The problem is enough punters are prepared to pay these prices for them to justify charging at those rates.

Although at least if you're shelling out for a concert you'll get entertained, imagine stumping up hundreds for a game like Scotland v Hungary!

Obviously really hope we make it to the World Cup and good luck to anybody who can afford to go there to see all the games we play but think the astronomical cost of getting there,buying tickets ,travelling to different venues and hotels etc will severely restrict the size of our support.Just about got away with it for a fortnight in Germany but this would take it to a new level.Maybe   if we played a game in New York i would go for the one game to experience it.Certainly two weeks or whatever would be beyond my budget and the budget of plenty others i would imagine.Still first things first...let's get there.

If we do qualify I really hope we are not involved in be opening game this time.

That would be 3 out of our last 4 tournaments. Surely the odds of that would be astronomical, much like the prices of a ticket for the opening game.

So what is likely to happen to prices if Scotland play Gambia or Iran play Costa Rica?

I wish I could go to this World Cup if we qualify but the costs, travels and accommodation, nevermind the ticket prices as discussed on here is just going to be too expensive for me. Plus me and my Mrs are expecting a baby around that time just before the World Cup starts, so no chance she will let me go across the pond to watch football 😅 . Positive to that is I’ll be planning my paternity leave around that period anyways so will have a good amount of time off to look after the newborn whilst hopefully watching & cheering us on in North America.

Buts let’s focus on getting there first with a good performances and results in our final 4 group matches.

These are pretty big stadiums we are talking about. Do they really expect to fill them at those prices? Especially in the US where they still haven't even learned the proper name of the sport they are trying to sell tickets for.
