Off to Thailand for a wedding at the end of November. Anyone been and what jags, if any, did you get?  Seems to be loads of conflicting advice out there - get this, you don't need to bother with that, etc.  Don't fancy the rabies one and I think it's meant to be expensive as well.  On the other hand I haven't been chomped by a dug since I was 5 so I might be overdue.

Main question is - what effect do the jags have on you, e.g. do you get wiped out for a couple of days or hardly notice?  Got carer responsibilities so can't really be out the game altogether.

You don't need anything for Thailand. Would be a massive waste of money unless you're going in the jungle on the border with Malaysia.

Ta. Not going anywhere near where there's things that could eat me.

No vaxes needed unless you’re going into the jungle as Kumnio said. There is currently however an outbreak of rabies around the Bangkok area. You don’t say when you’re going or where but I’d be keeping an eye on that situation if going soon.

Sorry, I see you are going in November, so yeah I’d keep an eye on that. We got the hep A/ typhoid jag cos it was free on nhs vax advice line. No ill effects.

Ta.  Bangkok for 3 or 4 days, then to Udon Thani.  Also to Chiang Mai for 2 or 3 days.  Saw the rabies alert, but think you have to book the jag pretty early.  Rabies scares me as much as Ebola so it's a bit of a dilemma.  😱

Honestly, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. They’ll be well on top of it by the time you head over. In the unlikely event that it’s still a problem you could always book a shot in a clinic over there. It’ll probably be a hell of a lot cheaper as well!

I would avoid vaccinations as much as possible.   when I was in Africa in the 90s I took Lariam and I have suffered from night terrors since.  Can’t prove it was what caused it but it was a nasty drug.

I have absolutely no idea what vaccinations you need as have never been. I would maybe check with whoever you have travel insurance with as ultimately they will be paying for any treatment if you are unfortunate enough to catch anything.

Ditto, have a great time, you’ll love it. I’m going back soon to Phuket & Khao Lakand that will be my fourth time in recent years. Going to a wedding will give you a brilliant perspective as there will likely be a few of you experiencing the country for the first time. 👍
