There’s a striker at Dundee United about same age as this lad who’s meant to be a top prospect and currently captaining Scotland under 16s. He was born in Italy to an Italian father but brought up in Scotland from a young age. Wonder if he’ll stick to Scotland. Quote
mccaughey85 Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Apparently this kids got 93 g/a this season. Good chance he ends up back at us anyways. Spain are strong and he will have to be a top player to make it with them. Quote

Can you imagine if all these lads end up being top players but playing elsewhere. Vickery born/raised Scotland playing for England after moving to Man City. Pullan now called up to Spain, born raised Scotland. Glasgow born/raised Scotland played for Portugal but come back to Scotland. Noubissie born/Scottish Mum but said Scotland did not ask him France u19 international. Sassetti italy born however currently representing us. I want to say i read about a guy called Verraud Brazil/Belgium playing for our u15s. Quote

syecosse Posted May 7 Posted May 7 England have called up 15 year old Will Apter in bid to keep Scotland away from him after his brothers both represented Scotland at Under age groups, Scottish Dad had wanted them to represent Scotland, Rob Apter started well at Charlton before the coach no longer played him this season and Matthew Apter 20 made his Cardiff debut this season. With the exception of Italy (currently) those countries practically mass-produce top quality players. Surely if any of those lads feel any allegiance to Scotland they'll realise their chances of playing international football and playing in tournaments are far greater if they go with us. Quote

This is defeatist. We should be aiming to mass produce top-quality players. Relying on players who cannot get a game for the bigger nations to make do with their second choice is not something that fills me with excitement. Quote

We are producing them, but those players are being called up by other countries. Why is highlighting that defeatist?? Quote
