I read somewhere that it is an effectively a C squad that England put out. There are supposedly others at various tournaments.

Well if their A lot are at the U17 World Cup they've just been horsed 3-0 by Venezuela!

Caelens Dad confirmed on X he rejected England, long may it continue.

Doesnt mean much at this stage. The big test will come if he starts to turn into a big star and is playing at a high level. If England come then come calling he will have a big decision to make.

I get that but it is a sad state of affairs when players are putting career/self betterment before their national identity/affinity. It seems the days of nation first have long since gone.

Slightly amazed to discover he was born in Cupar. Had forgotten that his dad had a spell with Dundee United!

Oli Burke hails from Cupar as well. Who knew Super Cupar was such a hot bed for strikers.

Big difference to me is his dad is an ex pro so slightly nullifies the agent impact, see also Lennon Miller and Max Johnston. Fathers can see that the son's professional career does not always align with the agent's quick buck from the highest bidder approach.

And that’s how it’s finished. Enjoyed that, we could easily have had a couple more, and gave up very few chances at the other end. Really good Scotland performance.

Well done boys!

There's a lot to play for in this group. Even though Spain are odds on to go through as group winners, the 4 best runners up in the 7 qualifying groups will qualify to represent Europe at the 2026 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar. Beat Northern Ireland we're almost certain to qualify.

In Qatar. FFS.

Losing 2-0 to Spain at end of first half, tough draw this as Spain are always decent at this (and probably most other) levels

I saw the last 20 minutes and our boys were really  good on the ball. It was a very risky (stupid) turn near the edge of the box that led to the second goal.

A well deserved 2-1 win over Northern Ireland this afternoon to round things off. By far the superior side, not putting matters to bed a little earlier and more convincingly would be the only thing you could possibly quibble about.

That’s them through to the next round then?

Unfortunately no, the finals are only 8 teams, so only group winners go through. But the best second place teams qualify for the World Cup. None of the other groups have started yet, but we’d have to be extremely fortunate not to go through with 6 points.

The finals are in the autumn, supposedly in Qatar, but you can imagine there could be a change of venue.

Zion Pullan, previously a Scotland U15 and likely an U17 this year has been called up by Spain. He's a winger/striker for Celtic, born in Spain.

Apparently both his parents are Spanish
