Great result for the U17s.

Noticed there's a lad called Cai McGunnigle in the squad who's playing for Hong Kong FC in the Hong Kong Premier League. Played 321 minutes for their first team when he was fifteen at the start of last season and started their first game of this season.

There's also got Jack Bennie, now eighteen in October, who's Scottish at the club.

Both are probably worth keeping an eye on due to their interesting career path.

Hong Kong FC had two additional older Scottish players (Daniel Scally and Marcus McMillan last season); McMillan's moved to Eastern District. On top of this, Calum Hall plays for Eastern SC.

The U17s are playing England right now. Currently 0-0 at around 80 minutes - it's available via youtube.

I've only half watched the game, and only the second half, but my impression is that although England are the more accomplished it's not a massive gap. Lots of technically good lads on our side but they do look smaller than their English counterparts, so part of the issue is they are easily muscled off the ball. We also seem to lack a real bit of quality up front so are having trouble making the ball stick.

Think we are always shorter and less powerful than THEM. But really chuffed with this result.

Cannot remember the last time we beat them at any age level ( apart from schoolboy internationals)

Watched most of it and was impressed by our tenacity and work rate. They also passed well at times and created some decent chances.

Obviously England dominated possession for large spells but we at least looked competitive against a top nation who will be stacked with talent at that age group.

Nice to see us get the win.

Also was this game in Scotland?

Says on flashscore it was England at home.

I didn't think we looked too bad in terms of size and physique.

Maybe our younger generations are starting to get bigger and stronger.

Max Cameron(no.7) was one of the shorter lads but he looked rapid at times and reminded me a bit of doak with his ability.

Sweden definitely looking the better side in the opening 20 minutes. They've already beaten Lithuania who beat England (!) earlier today.  They also thrashed Switzerland 5.0 last month.  This is going to be a tough ask for us to get a result here.

Had the best 2 chances before they scored but mainly been chasing shadows. Sweden technically and especially physically much stronger. A few Scots lads look out of their depth including the lad from Hong Kong. The distribution out of defence especially from the keeper is woeful. Sweden do look a very good team however.

Wasn't much between the two teams early on, I didn't think, but Scotland missed two excellent chances to score. Sweden's goals came from two more difficult chances but they took them well.

This big No.17 we've brought on at halftime looks like a competition winner! 🫣

At least you've noticed him. I'm not sure I noticed the lad he replaced.

Feared we might get a bit of a drubbing but thankfully didn't materialise. Thought it was closer in the second half but we didn't create any clear cut chances. I haven't really watched this ages group but Cameron looked lively whilst he was on, thought Stanley (how many 16 year olds are called Stanley?) Wilson looked quite composed and also Thomson at centre back.
