Hertsscot Posted August 3, 2025 Posted August 3, 2025 Great win for Scotland's Sarah Calvert in the women's 1500m, just popping Laura Muir on the line to claim gold at the British Championships down in Birmingham.
Hertsscot Posted August 3, 2025 Author Posted August 3, 2025 And just to make it a Scottish double Neil Gourley wins the mens 1500.

Been watching Sarah (and her sister) run for a decade now. My mates son is just a bit younger and would watch them all through the ranks. 4 from Linlithgow the Calverts , my mates son and another boy all roughly the same age winning all the way through the ranks. Sarah is a total grinder works so hard, always had that last lap though, 2nd in world uni games and a flat 2 800m as well so been a crazy season.

Hopefully she can continue her progress and the others you mention as well.
Hertsscot Posted September 14, 2025 Author Posted September 14, 2025 No medals for Muir, Wallace or Keith but the men, Wightman, Kerr and Gourley, have all got through to the next round
Fairbairn Posted September 15, 2025 Posted September 15, 2025 3 Scots in the final of the men's 1500m, surely a good chance of a medal there. Away from that, Mondo Duplantis is a sensational athlete. Almost super human. He's just broken the world record for the 14th time by going 6.30 metres. To put that in to context, the highest the great Sergei Bubka ever got was 6.15!! Found it quite funny that he apparently has a clause in his contract with his sponsors where he gets $100K every time he breaks the world record so he just breaks it 1cm at a time even if he thinks he can do more! 🤣
Ally Bongo Posted September 15, 2025 Posted September 15, 2025 Edited Wikipedia to show Josh Kerr as Scottish rather than British They'll probably change it back

Apparently the guy who got gold won by 0.03 of a second or something ridiculous like that. Edited September 15, 2025 by Hertsscot
Fairbairn Posted September 17, 2025 Posted September 17, 2025 Heartbreak for Jake Wightman, beaten on the line by 0.02 of a second! Gourlay 10th and Kerr coming in last after looking like he pulled a hammy half way round.

Hertsscot Posted September 17, 2025 Author Posted September 17, 2025 Just watched the 1500, disappointing for Kerr but great run by Wightman, so close to gold.
