mccaughey85 Posted August 3, 2025 Posted August 3, 2025 Watson scored yesterday. One of the few young players getting a game in the spfl right now. Quote

Ben Brennan (18) started for Kili and Macaulay Tait (19) for Livi in the same game. 3 Scottish U21 midfielders playing in the same game should be the norm though, not an outlier. Quote
csinclair Posted August 3, 2025 Posted August 3, 2025 Watching Falkirk vs Dundee Utd just now. Falkirk naming 11 Scots born players in the starting lineup vs Dundee Utd’s 1. Quote
bigfingers Posted August 3, 2025 Posted August 3, 2025 2 goals for Bowie. Could be our new striker. Quote
csinclair Posted August 3, 2025 Posted August 3, 2025 (edited) always liked him for the u21s. Did a good job both up top and out wide. Hope he gets more chances going forward. Would certainly have him ahead of Dykes or Wilson Edited August 3, 2025 by csinclair Quote

One to keep an eye on is Cade Melrose at Airdrieonians. Went on loan to the lowland league this time last year, came back at Christmas and broke in to the first team in around March as first choice. He started yesterday so fingers crossed he remains first choice this season. He is 20 years old so a good age for the level, fingers crossed he continues his trajectory. Quote

Yeah they have such a good track record of developing young Scots that it’s a shame to see such an influx of foreign players sign this summer. Hopefully the young lads still get opportunities Quote

Was hoping Callan McKenna would get a loan this season but looks like he’ll just be playing in Bournemouth’s development side. Quote

I’d hoped so too but he hasn’t featured at all in their pre-season, even though they have had two keepers on the bench at times. Quote

Rory Mahady at Leeds I think could be 1 to watch, toured with Leeds first team as well and a 3 year deal this summer, gametime like Mckenna/Slicker could be the problem. Quote
Scots_Wha_Hae Posted August 3, 2025 Posted August 3, 2025 Tierney off after 65 minutes for Celtic and not looking very happy; hopefully it’s a lack of match fitness and not another injury. I really hope Celtic manage his gametime, once he is up and running there is really no need for him to play every week. Quote

Yeah they have 4 keepers in their squad over in America but McKenna is doing preseason in Spain with the development side instead. Quote

Is several levels above anybody else in the league. Normally id want our players playing against the highest level of opponent week in week out but Tierney is the type of player who I dont think either gets better or worse depending on the level. I think he just plays at his level regardless which for Scotland is a good thing now he is back in the SPFL. Quote

He has proven himself in the best leagues in the world and at international level and his performance levels are consistent. He just needs a good run of games now to get back into the groove. Quote

csinclair Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 Don’t think it’s going in without the keeper’s touch but good skill from Doak anyway Quote
BookhouseBoys Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 5 minutes ago, mccaughey85 said: scores? Not according to flashscore It was almost the same as when McGinn scored during the nations league - beat his man, whipped it across and the keeper palmed it, but this time the ball went the other direction and ended in the net. Will go down as a GK og since the ball was directed across goal before the save, but it was Doak’s goal. He almost scored a half volley from about 25 yards back as well about 2mins before the goal. He hit it really sweet and the GK made a good save. Quote
csinclair Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 Fantastic finish by Shankland but looks like it’s going to be disallowed Quote
csinclair Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 Goal for Stuart Findlay. Given our lack of depth at centre back and the fact he’s played under Clarke before; I wonder if a good run at Hearts could get him back in with a shout for a call up Quote
mccaughey85 Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 Doak looking sharp here. Surely Liverpool should be thinking about keeping the lad. Even if he comes off the bench and gets a some cup appearances this season. Quote
