Agreed, with fitness across the team (and a few fringers improving) we’ve got a fighting chance.

brentford fans say he’s looking big and strong…… but suppose 2 years in the gym would do that!

Another goal this afternoon for Findlay Curtis for Rangers in their friendly against Middlesbrough (no goal for Tommy Conway though, by the looks of it).

Nathan Patterson also starts for Everton against Bournemouth, but there's no sign of Ryan Christie in the Bournemouth squad. 🤔

At least he's used to playing in green and white hoops. It'll be interesting to see how he progresses this season and whether he gets on Steve Clarke's radar. Quite a lot of Scottish forwards in the Championship this year.

I think we should call him up. Get him involved so that ivory coast can't knick him. 

Worst case scenario is that it ends up a burke situation where we don't really need him.

Patterson played RCB in a 3 which was a bit weird. Played the full 90 and don’t think he was culpable for any of the Bournemouth goals. 

Doak played the second 45 for Liverpool. They played him through the middle though and he was pretty much anonymous. Barely touched the ball. What a waste. Can only assume he was being played there to accommodate Frimpong on the right wing.

Harrison Ashby did well for Newcastle V Arsenal, with Hickey returning and maybe Patterson getting a chance and with Johnstone and Ralston, RB could go back to being very strong. 

 

Another player like Hickey back from long term injury that will hopefully come back and do well is Ibane Bowat at CB returned yesterday for Portsmouth, hopefully a good season for Liam Morrison and  maybe see if Ben Nelson will call up and we might have some options in those positions.

Because that's the colour of the Butchers apron and quite a lot of people think England rules the rest of the UK?

Does the butchers apron not have blue due to incorporating the saltire?

I think there is no reason for England to have blue in any of their strips.

I think historically it might have been for no other reason than the fact it was the opposite of the Scotland kit, back when it was just the two countries facing each other.

You could be right. I thought similar to the above where the English saw Britain as England, so went with the Union Jack colours. Looked at images from ‘66 and the flags are mostly red, white and blue.

Anyway sorry, don’t want to derail the thread.

Flag colours do not always determine international kit colours. A prime example is Italy. The Azzuri Blue do not stick to a green, white and red kit.

Seen someone post about Dane Murray will get a chance this season at Celtic but seen the Man City lad arrive and apparently they are after a Swedish defender sounds like him and Walsh would be best getting out unless he is Joining Ayr as part of the loan agreement.

Probably as close to a straight answer as can be. Probably a similar reason the Scottish kits regularly feature red. I know a lot of people hate that as it's a nod to unionist bootlicking but personally I think it looks smart when incorporated

Celtic and Rangers taking teenagers on loan from the premier league is just painful. They are nurturing other teams' talent, instead of their own.

Historically, the old-firm had their pick of the best Scottish youth. It's like they are actively avoiding academy players now.

That all being said, I have high hopes for Murray. I remember seeing him play alongside Welsh when he was 17ish, and he stood out far more, even though he is 3 years younger.

I like to think it's the red aff the rampant, rather then the red of St George
