Just watched a video clip of Neville Southall !! He has to be one of, if not the best keeper ever.. I've always liked him, but my god, some of the saves he pulled off were incredible.. Think the others would be Buffon,  and big Craig Gordon in his day....

Southall was a fantastic keeper.  I think he could probably keep as many shots out now although not quite for the same reason!

In terms of keepers I've seen live, Andy Goram is the best by some distance.  He was a phenomenal keeper in his day and if not for a few demons rattling about in his head was more than capable of playing at a higher level, despite his comparative lack of height for a top class keeper.

He certainly was... 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Rikki Ferguson then Allan Ferguson - no relation but one followed the other at Accies making almost 25 years combined between 1974 and 1998

They don't get the credit as other well known keepers but they were certainly better than some of the shite capped for Scotland - Alan Rough included

If you are goalkeeper for a wee team you are going to be involved far more than if you were between the sticks for a big team

Got plenty practice in a shite Hibs team, saved us from some utter hammerings

Aye, Stranraer could have saved a lot of points if they'd signed him...

if we are talking Scotland, I agree on Goram.  Best Scotland goalie ever for me  - definitely instilled the most confidence.

in the World…. Really difficult to say.  Southall was great, schmiechel, Kahn, Buffon, Zoff, Maier.

I will give you a wildcard… phil Parkes.  Packed it in early for england but better than both shilton and clemence.

I'd go Goram, best save I've ever seen from van hoojidonks volley.

And his performance against Netherlands at Euro 96. Probably the best individual performance from a keeper I can remember seeing.

Exceptional, what we'd give for him or Leighton now 😥

If Goram played against Brazil at Italia 90 we would have went into the next round for the first time

Very young at the time but this was the 1st goalie I remember being impressed with. 1st I can remember wearing proper goalie gloves too, not the Peter Bonetti crappy ones. Showing my age here. It's Sepp Maier by the way.

I'd probably put him in my top 4-5 keepers during my lifetime of watching football. Shilton and Smeichel and maybe Andy Goram & Buffon would be the others.

Honourable mention for Tam Fyfe, keeper in our Paisley Pitz D3 Sunday 5 A Side team circa 1997.  The man was like a brick wall.  The origin of the still used phrase "you'll no beat Tam from there".  And they rarely did!
