Will be delighted if the midget’s of Denmark are as wasteful tomorrow night, don’t think iv seen a team as bad in front of goal at that level. Too only score one goal over the two legs with the chances they had was criminal Quote

Plzen got to the same stage of the Europa as us last season and only lost to a decent Lazio team so I’d rather have had Servette but if we want to mix with the big boys these are the teams we need to be beating. What are you expecting? A smooth silky performance in those conditions? It was our second competitive match. Personally I had low expectations of progression to the next round when the draw was made. Personally I had low expectations of progression to the next round when the draw was made. I had low expectations as well but am glad we're through. In fairness we've had better teams that have gone out early. Greece away, particularly early in the competition, is always going to be tough but we were poor last night, could easily have been three or four down in the first 20 minutes except for some poor finishing and Butland's heroics. I hope those in attendance get an AEK Athens 2001 styled atmosphere and this time we go through. Taking the wee man tonight; hope the atmosphere keeps him going with it being a bedtime kick-off 😄 Quote

vanderark14 Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 Great to see United through and all the best to hibs tonight Quote
RanelaghScot Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 As a Hibs fan you never know whether to laugh or cry at times.... No disgrace in the result, we were up against a quality team and it took three wonder goals over the two legs to put us out. Great effort by the team over the two legs and a lot of positives to take into the season. But FFS....talk about a glorious failure....there's a part of me that would've almost preferred the Aston Villa pumping we got a couple of years back, at least there were no hopes and dreams smashed by earth shattering despair... scotlad Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 It's the hope that kills you. As a Partick Thistle and Scotland fan, I can relate! 😂 Quote
Toepoke Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 Some goal to win it, but a real sickener. Just after the Danes had subbed their keeper for penalties too! Quote
Diamond Scot Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 Really good effort by Hibs. Tonight was a classic example of what happens when you get tired legs and minds. Last 20 mins of normal time and then extra time Hibs just didnt have the composure to build attacks which came purely from team mates not having the legs to keep movement off the ball going. Then in the few moments when things broke for them they repeatedly made tired decisions. Really good showing though and makes a difference from some years gone past. Do they drop into the Conference league play offs now? Quote

It would have been terrific if they'd got though against tough opposition. Getting Partizan Belgrade next is reminiscent of Rangers, if we'd not scraped through we'd have been up against Beşiktaş or Shakhtar Donetsk, both of whom are bigger names than Plezn. Most of the teams in the Conference are going to be beatable but then again you might get the odd anomaly like Chelsea last year. Quote

Enjoyed the match despite the result. Pity about the great chance going nowhere near goal just before they scored again. Got home about half 12 and wee man still up at 7 today 🙃 Quote
