I totally see the point about Gilmour sometimes passing back or sideways. Some say it would be good for him to add more goals to his game. Maybe they/we should play him as striker?

Lobotka is the key midfielder for Napoli. They wouldn't be the same team without him. In six seasons with Napoli he's scored twice and had three assists

Dunga, Deschamps, Kante, Lahm, etc, rarely contributed with goals. Locatello, Jorgino, De Jong, don't rack up massive goal contributions.

Yet, the aforementioned player are/were vital to their team.

Gilmour is a deep-laying playmaker. He takes the ball off the defenders and he sets the temp. He's metronomic.

Teams need players like that. 

England lost two European Championship finals because they didn't have one and their opposition did (Rodri and Tchouaméni).

Gilmour is never going to assist or score many. 

That's fine.
 
Fans have a habit of dismissing what a player contributes and focusing on what they don't.

Football should work like American sports. Clock should be on a countdown timer with it stopping every time it's out of play or a foul is committed etc.

I think it is on the off chance that Napoli lose and Inter draw their latch matches so they need a play off and can only fit it in before the European Cup final.

On a wider scale, only matches with teams that directly affect with each other need to play at the same time.

So championship contenders have to play at same time

European places and relegation places the same.

I was trying to think of the last time or previous times a Scottish player was in a continental league-winning team. I got as far as John Collins (Monaco, 1997) and Steve Archibald (Barcelona, 1985).

Famously Paul Lambert won the Champions League with Borussia Dortmund (1997) but he didn't win the Bundesliga title with them.

If I'm following this right,there are 9 permutations of results, of which 6 would see Napoli champions, 2 would see Inter champions and 1 would see a play-off.

If it hadn't been for Lazio's 90th minute equaliser on Sunday, the situation would have been reversed. 

Not sure what the odds are on the individual games, but Como are 10th and Cagliari 14th; Como are at home, though it's a relatively local game for Inter so presumably not too daunting an away fixture.
