Out with their scoring, Miller, IMO did more for the team than McCoist. I liked Miller a lot, certainly a different player from McCoist in terms of closing down defenders. He was at the high press before it was a thing. McCoist was also good as an all round footballer (rather than just as a finisher) and good at building passages of play. Quote

Sound like a guy who is humble enough to admit that he made mistakes. Sounds like a nice guy. Takes a big man to be able to learn from mistakes and grow from them. Props to him. As a coach, It defies convention thinking of him being enamoured by Barcelona's possession based football. But he It. Plus his preferred formation is three at the back. To quote him. "It's what you play against better teams." To hell with it. Dunc for next Scotland boss! 😛 Apart from his off pitch issues when he was younger. I didn’t realise how many bad injuries he had. Said in that talk that he had 10 operations. When fit he was a quality player. I saw him in one of his first games for DuFC and immediately saw him as a great Scotland player for the future. Pity how it turned out. Unbelievable that he never scored a goal for Scotland and had so few caps. He mentioned having regrets and his stance on the national team was one of them. His autobiography out in a few weeks should be a good read Edited April 18, 2025 by GHfaeGTA Quote

A Robbie Keane level striker takes us out of group stages at major tournaments with the current squad. Bang on. Especially the 2020 tournament. We created a heck of a lot of chances. I vaguely remember Robertson being one of the highest chance creators in the group stages. If we had a sharp spearhead, capable of just finishing moves, we'd be winning far more games. I actually think we did have a striker that was capable of that. Leigh Griffiths should have been our 30+ goal striker. He had the ability. Obviously other stuff was going on that prevented that, sadly. It sometimes feels like we have a curse with strikers. Quote
Big Ramy 1314 Posted April 19, 2025 Author Posted April 19, 2025 Napoli level at the top of Seria A. McTominay scores again in a 1-0 victory.... Some boy..🏴🏴🏴 Quote

Inter Milan have the more difficult run-in on paper. They're playing Roma and Lazio. Whereas Napoli are playing teams below the top five. Plus Inter Milan have the distraction of the European Cup. If both Inter Milan and Napoli finish joint top, they'll play a one legged play off to decide who wins the league. Hopefully Napoli win five on the spin and Inter Milan slip up. 👍👍 Quote
Rich NATA Posted April 20, 2025 Posted April 20, 2025 In addition to the Champions League, Inter are playing Milan in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday, before they play Roma in the league on Saturday. Napoli, on the other hand, don't face Torino until Sunday. Quote

Goal diffence only comes into it to decided Champions League places etc, but NOT the title. The DO use goal difference to decide where the championship play-off is held though, for the one-off match. Should be a cracking run-in! Fingers crossed for Napoli 👍🏼 Quote

Could even go into penalties. https://www.thenational.scot/sport/25105685.lesser-known-serie-rule-determine-title-winner/?ref=rss And McTominay still has family in Scotland so was probably a regular visitor. I think he probably sees himself as having English and Scottish identities. I have no problem with that. Quote
Rich NATA Posted April 23, 2025 Posted April 23, 2025 Owing to the Pope's funeral, the Saturday matches will now be played on Sunday or Monday. Inter v Roma will now be played on Sunday afternoon. Quote

Super_Scotlandfan Posted April 27, 2025 Posted April 27, 2025 The role McTominay is doing at Napoli is exactly what he should be doing for Scotland. Adams or whoever can occupy the 6 yard box and central defenders and McTominay can arrive late into the space. Quote

Burj_Alba Posted April 28, 2025 Posted April 28, 2025 Fantastic goals, arriving late into the box and tucking them away into the corner. What he does best. Napoli have a good run in ( teams in bottom half) so hopefully no slip ups. Quote
