Decent chance they win the league if Napoli keep up this kind of form.

Always felt mctominay wasn't quite good enough for man utd but it's maybe a case of man utd dragging him down as it has with lots of players in the last few years.

Either way it's great that both gilmour and mctominay are playing in the same club side.

Is Gilmour also getting plenty minutes and thriving?
Serie-A likely more suited to his style of play
- but he has stiff competition for places at Napoli

Since Lobotka has picked up his injury Gilmour has played in that position. I'd imagine Lobotka will get his place back when fit again but Gilmour is definitely giving Conte something to consider. Playing well as he settles in to Serie A football.

Was just reading a good article on McTominay, focused on the fact he plays for Scotland is the reason he hasn't had the respect he deserves as a World class footballer.

That's typical, you play FOR Scotland, or play IN Scotland, you are automatically devalued as a player regardless of your ability. How much is the likes of McGinn, Tierney, Robertson REALLY worth !! Fuckin parasites !! Does ma head in !!

He wasn't that great at man united. He played quite poorly at times and he certainly isn't world class.

He's a good midfielder though and I think he will flourish a bit more at Napoli as man utd seem like a cursed club right now and the players playing for them seem to constantly underperform.

I think mctominay is world class and hes finally getting to shown it at a club that 1) appreciates him and 2) a club who's support is passionate and not populated by tourists and spoilt cunts

Man united are a mess from top to bottom, no player will flourish there right now

Depends on what you consider world class.

For me it's being in the top 15 in your position for a few seasons in a row.

Not sure i would put him in the top 15 midfielders over the last few years so for me hes not world class.

I also wouldnt necessarily say thats a harsh barometer or standard as some ppl are much more stricter about what they consider world class and they would laugh at even the thought of mctominay being considered world class.

A very good player and certainly when he's even slightly off it (like in our last couple of games) it can be the difference between winning and losing. However, I wouldn't say he was world class.

I don't think we have any world class players. You could make arguments for prime Robertson and Tierney if he wasn't so injury prone. For the future, maybe Gilmour and Doak.

A bit random! Why 15? 😄

It doesn't have to be exactly 15. It's not an exact science but I would say top 15 is a fair barometer of being world class, especially if you consistently rank there over a few seasons.

For me theres the 6 main positions.

Goalkeeper, fullbacks, centre backs, midfielders, wingers or wide midfielders and then strikers/forwards.

Each position probably has about 10 to 15 players who you could consider world class.

Thats my definition but I understand that other ppl have different criteria or opinions on what constitutes world class.

There is only one definition

A world class football player is someone that plays consistently well at club and International level over a period of time AND has the ability to impact the outcome of a game

Isn't the first part similar to what I have said. A player who plays well at the top level for several years would rank in the to 10 or 15 in their position.

The second part is very much opinion based and I would agree that a world class player should have the ability to impact the outcome of a game. Saying that non world class players should be able to do that as well from time to time. Consistency is key. World class players perform well over a long period.

I like it but it's a bit daft.

Sort of thing you would say about maradona or Messi.
