I nearly exploded
Toepoke Posted August 12, 2024 Author Posted August 12, 2024 The greatest achievement was kept to last, Sifan Hassan winning the women's Marathon, two days after getting bronze in the 5000m (and a week after taking bronze in the 10000m). Even Tom Cruise abseiling into the Stade de France couldn't top that.
Hertsscot Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 Well I loved it. Opening ceremony (dodgy transvestites excepted) showcased Paris and that continued throughout the Games and got great crowds. Seemed to be well run, though the IoC should have anticipated the issues around the boxing and need to get it sorted out. Right wing British nationalists want their country back so it was a delight to see so many medals won by people from a diverse background. Outside the athletics I enjoyed the swimming and beach volleyball, rugby sevens. Brakedancing and synchronised swimming, less so.

Bit of argy bargy towards the end and I just hoped that no one would be disqualified after running all that distance! Incredible achievement by an incredible athlete.
