In terms of direct routes from Scotland, probably best two are to Dubrovnik or to Budapest, and then get onwards travel from there to Zagreb (there is no shortage of internal flights from Dubrovnik to Zagreb, and you could probably get a early morning flight up to Zagreb on the day of the match).

Budapest is something like 6 hours by train, and the scenery is stunning as you pass Lake Balaton, but boy does it get mind numbingly boring once past there, and a journey that probably takes 2.5 hours, feels like it takes closer to 6!

Ljublijana probably your best best, and you can actually get a really good price with Swiss Air (using their low cost arm, Edelweiss Air) from Edinburgh to Ljublijana via Zurich.... from there its only something like 2.5 hours to Zagreb.

I am Edinburgh - Dubrovnik with Jet2 on the Wed, and then Edelweiss Ljubljana-Zurich-Edinburgh on the Mon.

Will have to be an in and out job Rich, Fri night or Sat early and back Sun/Mon morning. Looking unlikely.

There is a Ryanair Friday night flight out to Dusseldorf on the Friday night at 8pm from Edinburgh, and there is a onward Ryanair flight out the next morning at 8am that gets you in to Zagreb for 10:15.

Both the Dusseldorf flights are in and out of Weeze

It's certainly doable.

Have you referred to Skyscanner website? I swear by it; even if you just use it for info and then book direct with airline.

Maybe search one-ways and fine-tune your trip that way.

I've searched flights as if it was me booking (I like a morning outbound and an afternoon return).

Out of GLA or EDI is in the region of 300 GBP, which is a tad pricey, I know.

But if you can get to Manchester (or Newcastle) you'll find matchday options options like...

Aye, skyscanner is my go to travel portal! Usually end up doing individual flights and going random places on the way as it's a lot more fun!

We are going from Embra via Köln with Eurowings. From memory there was a flight getting in quite late the night before the game, not sure about the way back tho.

Fly to one of these then bus:

Zadar - 3 hours

Split - 5 hours

Ljubljana - 2 hours

She says trains aren't very good.

Cheers fella, Zadar looks doable although it means a 3am bus to Zagreb, could be fun...
