Ive heard all the scare stories about robbers and pickpockets etc. Planning on an organised favela tour which looks good and the usual Copacabana, Christ the Redeemer, Maracana etc. I’m hoping their might be a game on while we’re there which would be awesome. Like you, first time I went I was pretty nervous having read some scare stories (carried two wallets, one with a few Reals to hand over, bought a cheap watch etc) but I was young and naive back then. Like all places, keep your wits about you and you should be fine. Christ the Redeemer - book the wee funicular before you go otherwise you’ll be queuing about for ages. Sugar Loaf - excellent too. Helicopter ride is a must-do. Leave from the Lagoa (Lagoon) and flies over the popular sights. Tickets for the Maracana easy enough to pick up. I went to Flamengo v Palmeiras when I was there. Maybe better trying for one of the smaller stadiums too though as the Maracana is obviously huge and was only about 1/4 full. Four teams in Rio to choose from. Never did the Favela tour but wished I had. Cracking place! Took the wee man for the WC Final in 2014 before we were shafted for tickets. 🙌🏼🇧🇷 Quote

Did the redeemer, Maracana, copa etc I'll post details tomorrow or over weekend, just back from rugby park and am knackered. We stayed in a flavela, a hostel, it was magnificent, felt very safe and the views were magnificent. I'll post over the weekend Quote

Interesting that you both went with your kids despite all the scare stories! I’ll be going with Mrs Slasher and we travel via Heathrow. Looking forward to it! Quote
