slasher Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 I was lucky enough to attend the Flushing Meadows final many years ago but as I was so young didn’t really appreciate it. I would love to attend one of the ‘slams’ now which leads to my question. How easy is it to get tickets and how? I’m guessing Roland Garros would be the easiest but I’m up for any of them tbh, a bucket list kind of thing. So, if anyone has experience of getting tix for Wimbledon, Oz or any of the others plz share? Thanks in advance

I went on ticket master the day of yhe US quarter finals and watched murray v wawrinka in 2013. In the French I had tickets for the 3rd round. Again easy to get but beyond that round was hard to get Wimbledon I've done 3 times now. Once I.did the queue, great fun but I wish I got there earlier, I.got court 2 tickets, If I'd been an hour earlier....2am I would've got centre court, still I got to see kyrgios play dustin brown in a very entertaining match on court 2. Those tickets also allowed access to any other court except centre and court 1. The 2nd time was a freebie hospitality via work on court 1....saw jamie murray in a semi final. The 3rd time was the ballot at the tenth attempt. Centre court mens 4th round.

Do you need to do anything other than just turn up?

I ended up having beers with a south African lad.

Thanks in advance In 1998, we were going to the World Cup opener in Paris and fancied going a week early to watch the tennis; we wrote to the French Tennis Federation from the 'South West Scottish Tennis Association', which was a made-up organisation, asking for finals tickets, we managed to get three tickets for the women's finals that year. We did the same the following year and got 3x women's and gent's finals tickets. I imagine it's tougher to do now, and a quick Google search would reveal it as a scam. If you join the LTA, which I think is free, you are entered into a ballot for Wimbledon tickets. Sometimes, this comes up trumps, but you are better off joining a wee club; it's relatively inexpensive, and they will be allocated tickets every year to ballot within the club. I used to get tickets this way every year. I would be wary about buying from a ticket site; I know last year Wimbledon were very strict about having identification to prove the ticket was yours.

Interesting I’ll look into that 👍
