Haggis_trap
What is the origin of this tune ? Seems to have become a real tartan army anthem recently. My kids love it - which is odd as I remember it as being average cheesy 90s club track.
TartanSpice
Did it come back into fashion by Wigan Athletic fans singing 'Will Grigg's on fire' a number of years ago, and then suddenly teams co-opted it for their own teams/players? ger intae them
I know that Brentford play it after every win…… but guess there might be a few clubs that do?
Eassy
Personally no a fan, only because everybody else is using it, Northern Ireland made it popular at Euro 2016, if it creates an atmosphere though why no a suppose

borojock
Wasnt it from Simon Ferrys YT channel - they started using it a few years back Free from desire Slaneys on fire then something about Willie Collum I think its a great tune gets the tempo going
AlfieMoon
Any origins of Will Grigg / NI / open goal, etc. are just side stories. It was really just the timing of it after the Israel win that made it.
Caledonian Craig
The first time I recall Scotland fans singing it was for 'Forrest's on fire' after his hat-trick V Israel in the 3-2 comeback win in the Nations League three or four years ago. Toepoke
I did some research on this and used it in my quiz last night. Apparently Stevenage winger Luke Freeman was the first player to have it sung at in 2012. "Freeman's on fire, your right back is terrified!" Bit of spare time on your hands then? 😂😂 I assume absolutely no one got that right?

It was a multiple choice of three clubs. Still don't think anyone picked Stevenage though 😀
