HamishAllison
Dear all I have recently come into the possession of a book titled The History of Scottish Rugby by Sandy Thorburn written in 1980. I picked this up in a charity shop, and when I got home and opened it up, I was surprised to find 2 letters and a press clipping tucked inside. One letter is from the BBC, and the other is hand written and addressed to Maisie Dykes from a 'Nan Drysdale' discussing Scottish rugby and Nan Drysdale's interview on Radio 4. After some research I have found that both of Maisie Dykes brothers played for Scotland in the 1930s, Jimmy Dykes was capped 22 times and Andy Dykes once. The book belonged to the Dykes family as there is a name inside the cover which says M. S. Urquhart (Nee Dykes). I would really like to reunite the book and the letters with the family, so I am hoping that someone on here might have some information that may help me with this. Any information would be great. Thanks Nice story. I would suggest you look at places like theoffsideline or Scottish rugby blog. You could also email the lads on the thistle rugby podcast (see their Twitter feed for details) and they may read out your message. There is, apparently, a Scottish rugby Facebook page and also a reasonably busy Glasgow warriors message board. There is an edinburgh one that next to no-one uses, and I think there’s another Scotland one that isn’t too busy unless there’s a match. Anyway - good luck!
