We should defo use the Faroes as an opportunity to get some minutes into the younger lads whilst trying to get minutes into the team of using a more attacking system but at the same time not being to over the top as Faroes is a potential banana skin team. One thing we can rely on Stevie for is balance so i have every faith in him to make the right call.

I like saintsparky's team with back 4, plus ST6's-t-army's notion this will cause an element of surprise and throw a spanner in the works of Israel's tactical planning. Since we are at home in front of a packed Hampden we should be taking the game to them. McGregor is good on the ball, but does not man mark or pick up runners, and this Israeli midfield is adept at finding pockets of space. I would even have McTominay man mark Solomon. Fraser wide left should help pin back Dasa who likes to get forward and cause problems. The whole idea is to cut off supply to Zahavi and Dabbur. It is also imperative Patterson starts, for his surging forward runs which they have not encountered before. Ok he has not been tested much defensively at the highest level, but can tackle and is very quick. Hopefully there will be no last-minute injuries or Covid wrinkles, meaning this could be a rare squad meetup with no call offs!

Get intae them!

Thanks, and yes, and if I were on the coaching team I would definitely address set-pieces! Previously we were blessed with good dead-ball specialists - McFadden, Maloney, Mulgrew, Snodgrass, Griffiths etc. But now possess no obvious candidates, though McGinn and Armstrong both took good free-kicks back at Hibs and Celtic respectively. Also I have lost count of the number of our corners that have ended up fruitless. With the addition of Austin McPhee to the coaching staff I am hoping for more innovation and creativity around set-pieces. Just do not give free-kicks to McTominay to blooter over the bar! With such narrow margins in international football, good set pieces could give us an edge.

There is merit in what you say and it's all about opinions. However I don't agree. Our failings against Israel can be attributed to one thing... the midfield not controlling the game. Enter Gilmour/Mcgregor or Gilmour/McTominay. This allows us to get our full/wing backs high and exposing their obvious weaknesses in defence.

Bitton & El Hamed eg are feckin hopeless at defending their penalty area, we just haven't asked them to do it often enough. If we can turn them towards behaving like an actual away team we can win. If we start man marking their best players we're fucked imo

Yeah we need to capitalize on those situations. We are not blessed with goals either so The fact that we can have an opportunity to get the big lads up and ping one in to them must be utilized better. When was the last time we scored from a corner???

This a 100% if we don't score many from open play we have to be deadly from penalties, corners, shooting free kicks, non shooting free kicks even attacking throw ins. Be a bit creative and put ourselves in the best chance to profit from these attacking set plays

This is exactly why I think Turnbull could be a very important player for us going forward. It's hard to see how he'll be able to break into the first 11 any time soon, but if things aren't going our way, he is perfect to bring on with 30 minutes to go and hope we get a few set pieces. He really is that good.

We need an effective plan B and plan C. Fraser is very good at drawing fouls to win free-kicks, and Patterson is great at hitting the by-line and winning corners. I'm not saying all 3 of those players should necessarily start, but I'd get all 3 on the pitch if plan A isn't working.
