Anderson should be asked to join the squad get together in Spain prior to the games in June. If he doesn't want to go then forget about him. If he accepts then  he might get the feeling of being part of something special and nail his colour's to our mast.

I agree, if he starts again at the weekend & plays well,  that's 2 league starts in a row for a top 4 EPL club , arguably he has done enough to be offered the call up .

Dire Mebude is up for prem 2 player of the year, interesting he tweeted time for a new challenge on the 14th of May.

There's a few posts about him on the Man City forum, he is very highly rated & they would prefer he trained with the first team squad or went out on loan but  the rumour is he could be off permanently with PSV Eindhoven favourites .

Hard to get capped if you don't get called up. Has he ever been called up?

You usually sound out the player before calling them up.

The fact he hasn't probably tells its own story.

Aren't gonna call him up unless he's 100% committed. Otherwise you just look daft.

Players will play youth level but as with Rice etc, it's a different ball game at full international.

Personally didn't think he had done enough to get a call up prior to the March games and you could still debate if he should called up or not for the next squad.

Is he even good enough to get in the England u21 team.

Before everyone starts slagging him lets try and remember hes born and bred english. He probably wants to play for england just like gunn and adams did.

Hes probably holding out to see what level he will make it at. If it looks like he will become a top end epl player then he will probably want to hold out for england. If not then its us he will choose. Thats the nature of how it works when it comes down to grandparent rule players.

Does anyone know who the competition is for anderson in terms of places in the england squad.

Elliot anderson is an attacking midfielder(i think). Therefore i would guess guys like mason mount, conor gallagher and phil foden are his main competitors. Those three are all young as well.

Perhaps theres more in his way but i am not too knowledgeable about upcoming english attacking midfielders.

Aye. Always nice to see players showing true commitment to us. So we just sit around waiting to see if he makes it with england and if not we are happy with him jumping ship to us. Chase him.

You say that like it hasn’t been the case for numerous key members of our squad both past and present

Depends what system England play but seems like Anderson will be a more central attacking midfielder. Ironically the postion that either Armstrong or Christie have been playing for us with McGinn doing the same.

So for England it would be Mount, Maddison, Gallagher, Foden.

England tend to play with 2 wide attackers and a central striker though so you would also be chucking in Rashford, Saka and Sterling.

From what ive seen of Anderson he looks to have some talent but hasnt done anything that ive been overly impressed with or thought "this guys gonna be a player" however Maddison went on loan to Aberdeen and id never have thought he would become as good as he is. Its hard to tell at that age but Newcastle obviously have some faith and they will be best placed to judge.

Im laid back about him, im happy for him to take time to decide what he wants to do. Even if thats him hedging his bets. If in 2 years time he isnt good enough for England but would make us better then so be it.

Scott Banks 6 goals and 6 assists on loan at Bradford this season, has agreed a new 1 year deal at Crystal Palace, scored today in some European youth final v PSV.

Crikey had almost forgotten about him. There's still a chance then as he has done enough to get a new contract.

They've Jack Grealish too, and probably a few others that I can't bring to mind just now.

At the moment Anderson is nowhere near a senior England call-up and to be honest, I wouldn't start him in the Scotland team ahead of Armstrong, Christie, McGinn or even Lewis Ferguson just now. However, a couple of injuries and suspensions and a gap opens up.

I'm all for bringing talented youngsters into the senior set-up as soon as they make some impact at club level (that approach has worked well for Wales) but didn't Clarke say he spoke to him recently and Anderson basically said he doesn't want to commit at the moment?

Seen a bit of Anderson and not too fussed if he doesn't want to play for us . See another Ollie Burke type.  Lot of potential but nothing to get excited about . I'm sure he'll end up opting for us

He's looks a much better footballer than Burke, who's pace and power and little else.

Fergie scores again.

Excellent season from him. Be interesting to see if a bigger club comes in for him but Bologna seems to suit him well, might be better having another season with them than moving on to possibly warm the bench with a club with a bigger squad.

3 Scots youngsters on the bench that could make their debut in the Prem. for the last day of the season, Craig(Spurs) Mullen(Leeds) and Ashby (Newcastle).

Good info even though there is probably very little chance any of them will get on. Was hoping Doak might also be selected but not to be.
