yes, I was actually referring to human biology.  The SNP seem to have some trouble accepting the Supreme Court judgement and insist on trying to put men in to female only spaces. Bizarre. A strange lot indeed.

On climate change there is worldwide debate on how much of the climate change is man made and how much is natural changes as with the ice age.  Irrespective, we are pissing in the wind given what’s happening in China and India.  We are just fucking ourselves over with our lunacy on this when oil is plentiful. Stupid ideas include… trying to push people to electric cars when diesels are far better for some, trying to stop people having gas boilers, trying to stop people burning wood in open fires, trying to stop people having tumble dryers.  Fuck off with that and build some nuclear power stations and drill for oil.

China is actually the number one country changing to green. They just used their fossil fuels to power it. They have planted 66 billion trees and counting with their new green wall of china that is 2000 miles long to try and stop the encroachment of the gobi etc. They have massive solar farms , huge battery banks, the capability to shunt power along high voltage transfer systems. 

They lead the world in:

solar production

electric vehicles

electric train networks

wind power

tree planting

 

Obviously they still use a lot of coal, but they're trying to turn the ship.

India is the same trajectory but further back. These countries ask why should the west get their industrial revolutions powered by fossil then turn round an deny the same to other countries while not doing anything themselves to really turn "green"

Or maybe we count it from the point that some people started to think that CO2 emissions make a difference to climate change.

The effect is cumulative so the total should be also.

So we count the total amount of carbon pumped into the atmosphere, then we divide it per person, to normalise for population. It's something that has been accumulating since the 1850's.

The ozone layer is a completely different problem and was a resounding success as every country bought into it and solved the crisis. 

 

Ice age wasn't a consensus scientific view 50 years ago, it might have been front page on a newspaper or something though so obviously folk get fooled into thinking it was. The alarm bells for global warming were still being rung in 1975 as well.

Maybe not on the TAMB, but there is in the climate sciences. 20 years ago there were competing models, but they've been disproven, and their proponents welching on the bets they made. 

Galina Mashnich and Bashkirtez just stopped responding to emails when they lost their bets. Two Solar physicists against climate change.

You'll find the same merchants of doubt arguing against tobacco, acid rain, ozone and climate chain throughout the years but that doesn't mean anything.
