There is a very good chance now that we know of three of the seeds - Serbia or Portugal (that is confirmed) and Russia (quite likely their 16 points will be enough). Also Switzerland already have 15 points and should pick up points in their final game at home to Bulgaria.

We could still win and fail to be a seed looking at that table on Wikipedia .

if all those ahead of us win it probably won’t matter even if we did win

But either Spain or Sweden must drop points. So if we beat Denmark we would overtake whichever of Spain or Sweden finish 2nd.

And, a win for us would also see us overtake Russia.

So we just need a win, any win will do.

I’ve actually got a good feeling about the game because:

1. They have a number of key players missing and they don’t need a result so I don’t think they’ll be anywhere near as good as they can be.

2. It’s a home game that’s sold out so if we can get on the front foot early on then we have a real chance.

3. The side is becoming more and more like a club side now in that everyone knows what they’re supposed to be doing and getting more and more comfortable with the set up.

4. We’re due a good result at Hampden against a higher ranked side.

5. John McGinn!

The game tomorrow is exactly what we can expect in the Semi and Final should we get there. We’re going to have to beat the likes of a Denmark if we want to get to a World Cup Finals, so we better get used to it, as that’s the level we are hoping to reach. In the next hour we all become Spain fans in the hope that it helps us Regards seeding, what a change from the last game of campaign deciding whether we finish 3rd 4th or 5th in a group.  As for the game, I think we can at least get a draw, maybe sneak a win. After the horrendous start in the away fixture and going 2-0 down we played ok, admittedly Denmark had done the job.

Absolutely spot on.

Still goal-less at half-time between Spain and Sweden. Portugal being held at home 1-1 by Serbia - the winner of that match wins the group and the loser is a seeded team in the play-offs.

If Spain or Portugal lose tonight one of them will no doubt be in our playoff path. Could even be both of them although I have a feeling some of the plastic balls would be in the tumble dryer before the draw to keep them apart.

Could really do without Portugal and Spain being in the playoffs

They are not the terrifying prospects that they were a few years ago. Look at Portugal in this campaign twice labouring badly against a struggling Republic of Ireland. They won in the 96th minute at home and in the away match it was a 0-0 draw. Spain have hardly sparkled either - lack of invention around the penalty area.

Looks like we’ll still need to win tomorrow now.

Was hoping Spain might runaway with this but we’re now relying on Wales losing and the Turks not scoring too many. If that happens then a draw for us would still be ok.

A late winner for Serbia and Portugal are heading into the play-offs.

That’s not good. Wouldn’t really fancy us home or away against them. I know they’ve not been great but just looking at their squad they could be a match for any team of their day.
