Well four months out would mean he would be back by the end of March and five months would mean he'd be back at the end of April so he still has time. However, it would open the door for John Fleck or Billy Gilmour.

He still has time possibly but he’s barely played this season as it is & will miss the March games.

Hopefully both of them get a run of games and form in the lead up to March.

Shame for Kenny McLean he is a handy squad player too.

Would be a real shame if McLean did miss the euros , but if he couldn’t make the squad I’d have gilmour, turnbull or mcrorie in the squad ahead of fleck . For me those 3 are better players than fleck

Your not the first person to mention those three, but has Turnball actually played that deep in midfield?

I think Dykes and McBurnie are absolutely nailed on in the squad at this moment in time and don't think it is massively outside the realms of possibility McBurnie could start vs Czech's.  Dykes got an assist at the weekend and if he can stay in QPR side it is his position to lose but at the moment it doesn't look a certainty.

McBurnie isn't a goal scorer which is pretty obvious but if he gets the monkey off his back he might chip in with a few.  What he's there to do was pretty evident through the Slovakia game - our second choice back three weren't comfortable passing or taking it into midfield so we did resort to hitting it up to McBurnie and he got us up the pitch quite easily and successfully at times.  In the Eruos we're going to need an out ball like that and I honestly can't see a starting XI without Dykes or McBurnie in it.

Sheff Utd are bound to panic at some point and either spunk loads of money on another striker and/or sack their manager.  It's conceivable McBurnie could end up in the Championship on loan to a team at the top end of the table in January and which is more his level where potentially he proves to be a more inform Championship striker than Dykes by the time of the tournament.

McBurnie is a goal carrier and not too much else. The problem is he currently isn’t scoring goals. Dykes is more of the complete package and brings far more than goals.

Don't think he's really a goal scorer - he has 45 league goals in 7 years and half of them came in one season.

At the moment I'd pick Dykes all day long but, for all his limitations and complete lack of confidence, McBurnie isn't far off being our first choice if Dykes gets injured or dropped by QPR.

I can see for that reason that we end up capping Adams unfortunately.

If you want to compare goal scoring records just counting professional games 45 in 167 for McBurnie and Dykes 26 in 137 So McBurnie has a better strike rate.

Saying McBurnies took 7 years is a bit much he's only 24 but Dykes is a year older and was playing the Bondi beach surfers 7 years ago.

Dykes has been better player for Scotland but McBurnie is a far better player at club level. It's just a matter of how long Clarke will continue with McBurnie. International foot ball doesn't work for some players.

Again that is based on Scotland performances. Neither of them score goals for Scotland or their clubs.

Who is the more complete package is debatable. McBurnie contributes far more than people will admit in club games in particular in defense.

Sheffield United often use four strikes during a game and we should probably do the same.

Dykes has scored 2 and assisted 1 in 7 games. He contributes far more in a Scotland Jersey than McBurnie. Mcburnie does play a bit better for his club but when it comes to Scotland there really is no comparison. We look a much better side with Dykes.

You've made an argument out of context there - it wasn't bashing the fella but was specifically discussing McBurnie's record and that he's quite evidently not predominantly a goal scorer.  Chucking in the scoring record for Dykes or Messi or Big Dave from the Dog n Duck is irrelevant really.

However, I agree about who is better at club level and if McBurnie gets loaned back down to the Championship he'd probably show it - Christ the way the EPL works he's only a couple of goals off being flavour of the month.  At the minute he's an enigma and his confidence looks shot to pieces - he could go on a run and be our first choice or he could have a shocker of a season and struggle make the squad if we go down the Adams route.

The first sentence was interesting and suggested there was going to be some constructive argument and reasoning forthcoming.

Instead just a load of the same old McBurnie bashing.

If you've got nothing new to say why bother saying anything.

McBurnie like all our other recent squad strikers will be lucky be getting any game time when the squad is selected.

Mcburnie hit the bar twice when came on late as an impact sub

That's his role, when the games stretched and a few players are tired it takes away from his negatives and allows him more space

He's not a starter

Similarly Burke, if he ever plays for us again must be as a late sub right winger, when can ghost past tired players. That's only role RB Leipzig ever used him in, although he canny cross either

Mcburnies not worth taking on late in games. He's as good as useless for us in any capacity.

Burke never started much for rb leipzig because he wasn't good enough and he was given chances off the bench but never played well enough for leipzig to justify keeping him at the club. He can become a decent lower epl player or top half championship player and also be a good asset for us but he has a long way to go. I would prefer him to mcburnie any day Tbf.

Another bad result for Sheffield United,  21 shots with McBurnie-Burke forward line but lose 1-0 to WBA. Total opposite to last season but can't buy a goal or a win. Difficult to see where they are going to get their inspiration from and get themselves a few goals to get confidence back.
