Scottish players in action 20/21

Out with the Premier League we have had 'players in action' in the 4th, 6th and 8th best leagues in Europe consecutively now for the last few weeks and playing well. These guys are starters for their clubs in leagues that are a higher standard than our League in 14th. Is there a strong argument these guys should be included very soon and given a chance. On paper it's a no brainer when you see a guy playing in Serie A who is comfortable at left back and right back surely he should get in ahead of others in our squad. Hendry playing in  Belgium at a higher level than a number of our other centre backs and gaining wonderful praise. And Gauld starting to show his class in the 6th best league in Europe!

Hickey should be in upcoming squads. He can cover for robertson or be played at rwb if he's comfortable there.

The rest of the guys playing on the continent shouldn't be in the squad. Johnston has barely played games for Feyenoord. Same with Hornby. Gauld needs to continue on his good form and maybe then he might be considered but let's be fair he's playing for a relegation battler and his form would have to be very good to warrant him being called up.

Hendry is playing for a mid table team in a relatively poor league so I doubt he should be called up.

Hickeys the only one worth a call up imo.

Poor league - do me a favour. Pretty much any top flight Belgian team would finish least third in the SPFL.

Definitely. I suspect the person you're talking to hasn't seen a Belgium top flight match. I've watched quite a lot over the past few months. It's miles better than the SPL.

As for ruling out Gauld because he's playing for a relegation threatened team. If that's the case, we should rule out Marshall, McKenna, Dykes, McBurnie, Burke, Fleck, etc. That's potentially half of our strongest XI.

It's pure ignorance.

Ryan Gauld has been one of the best players in the Portuguese top flight. There's zero chance that he won't be signed on a Bosman by a more illustrious team next year.

Watched the Sheff Utd game at the weekend purely because McBurnie and Burke played up top as a partnership - Sheff Utd should have scored 3 or 4 and they looked dangerous together.  The whole team looks absolutely jinxed though and would imagine the manager hasn't got much longer.

Yep. Sheffield United should've won. McBurnie missed a sitter and Burke almost scored with a header.

It's a strange one. Sheffield United, in ten matches, they've lost seven of them by a single goal. Never seen anything like it.

Chris Wilder, if they do down, deserves a couple of seasons to get them back up. Besides, when he joined, they were bottom of the Championship. They owe him loyalty.

Exactly, still an ignorance from some people regarding other leagues in Europe, the Scottish Premier League is ranked 14th in Europe and that is because of 2 teams, the rest are dug meat

Good header from Burke good save from keeper first half. He needs a run of games

Reckon no crowds is having a massive impact on them and, a bit like Stoke to start with, home ground was a fortress.

Tricky run of games with Leicester, Man U and Everton at home and Southampton and Brighton away.  Hopefully he gets them going, with Burke and McBurnie up top, as that would be a massive boost.  Just can't see it though and would be amazed if the board didn't panic and pull the trigger before the end of the year.

Maybe.

If you've watched Sheffield United matches you'll know that it's a strange one. There's a sense of "Murphy's law about it".

Great to see Billy Gilmour back as part of the first team squad for Chelsea’s game against Sevilla tomorrow night.
Chelsea have got an embarrassment of riches in midfield at the moment so it’s testament to his ability and how hard he’s working to get back to match fitness.
Hope he gets some minutes.

Great news that. I know Chelsea are stacked in midfield but Lampard showed last season he rates him highly and Barkley has at least gone out on loan.

Should get plenty of minutes for them over xmas and I'd be shocked if he dosen't make the euros squad, will probably be in for the March games ahead of Kenny McClean who appears the most vulnerable regular midfielder currently.

Gilmour got the last 5 minutes of the Chelsea game. Chelsea have won the group so I'd expect him to start next in the final game next week.

I saw a fair bit of the game although not Gilmour coming on. They were incredible. If Billy can force his way back into this team it'll be quite something.
