vanderark14
Leigh Griffiths came on and scored over the weekend for a club who must win every domestic game when that team were at nil nil A good point made by liam mcleod on sportsound Id be in favour of griffiths being on the bench for scotland considering we have absolutely nothing upfront Edited October 7, 2020 by vanderark14
PASTA Mick
Armstrong, Christie and Tierney are all out of the three matches. Massive blow.

Does that mean players are still rooming together? That would be crazy.

mariokempes56
Think the nations league should be scrapped. Becoming farcical now and will probably get worse..
PASTA Mick
Scott McKenna, Liam Palmer and Oliver Burke will miss all three Scotland games due to injury.
SkyBlueScot
This is so depressing. At the minute it's not the end of the world but we're on the edge now. Guess that means O'Donnell at RB. Dykes, shankland and McBurnie cover the front places and in midfield we still have a choice of Fraser, McGinn, McTominay, Fleck, Jack and McGregor. Definitely not 3 at the back now, surely? Will he call up replacements? Still looks ok. For now...

The biggest issue is that Clarke will have been working on a strategy which probably included 3 or 4 of the 6 players that we have lost. He's got just over 24 hours so re-think things. The other issue is when a squad suddenly loses 6 players, it changes things. I'm sure other players are also worrying about whether they might be next to be infected. Orraloon
It wouldn't surprise me if Armstrong turned out to be a false positive, but nothing can be done about it now.
Templeton_Peck
This is a total disaster.. Biggest game we have had in years and about 30 hrs to initiate a new game plan with a depleted squad. Although big opportunity for the guys remaining to pull one out the bag.

weekevie04
Huge blow -Tierney, Christie Big blow - McKenna, Armstrong A bit of a blow - Burke Meh - Palmer. We've still got some decent players available, but we should be looking to beat Israel. The other two games is call up the 21s and fringe players. Nations League should be scrapped, TBH. Its a non Euros year too. Work out an average PTS system for the relegation/promotion and use that for the next one in three years. These playoffs should have been played at a neutral venue over a week since Covid happened. The home advantage is gone to a certain extent so why trape the likes of Israel back and forth to Scotland in a month. A neutral venue with first class facilities ég Germany, Switzerland Norway, Serbia, Scotland, Israel. All play each other once and the winner goes to the Euros. Could have done it like now Thu ; Sun ; Tue with squads being allowed 35 players

Actually, even if Covid hadn't happened, playing the playoffs at neutral venues would have been fairer than simply determining the home side by the luck of the draw. Clyde1998
Assuming we stick with the formation we used in the past couple of games, and based on the remaining players from the current squad, you're basically looking at: Marshall O'Donnell/Paterson - McTominay - Cooper - Gallagher/Porteous - Robertson Jack - Fleck/McLean - McGregor McGinn Dykes/Shankland Unless you start doing things like playing Taylor at left-back, putting Robertson in defensive midfield and playing Jack at right wing-back our options are very limited. Perhaps McGinn will be dropped deeper and Fraser will go behind the striker, but by moving players out of their primary position - you may as well change the formation. At least, if we do get past Israel, the final will be next month when we've hopefully got these players back.
JECK
In theory is there time for more positive cases in the squad? When is the last testing done ?

Based on the BBC article, it appears they're doing them daily. It said the players were tested on arrival Monday and have been tested again since - with Armstrong having to self-isolate from Tuesday (I assume yesterday). Squirrelhumper
Arsenal don't seem overly concerned about tierney. Seems OTT
romanticscot
Seems like our hand is forced we need to play 4 at the back, which I feel is a positive for tomorrow. I know my head is only focused on tomorrow but it is imperative that we call up more players for the other two games. I agree with the assessment above on who we will miss the most. We still have McGinn and our attackers are intact so its not lost IMO.
Caledonian Craig
Armstrong may not have started in any case. McGregor will play there. Tierney would have started probably the left of three central defenders so hopefully that crap formation will now be binned so that will work in our favour. Christie would have started and will be a miss but there again in recent games he has been a bit meh. All is not lost.
