Shankland has pulled out, replace him with centre forward extraordinaire, Davie Turnbull...either that or stick our world class back up, left back up front or our ageing Rangers reserve keeper, I'm sure any of them will do a job

No one has suggested doing that. Your acting strange and childish because I suggested Turnbull could potentially be a half decent striker if celtic were to decide to develop him in that way. It was only a suggestion from myself based on the fact that Turnbull scores alot of goals of which quite a few are typical striker goals imo. Chances are he will remain a midfielder which is fine as he is very good at that position.

Taylor1996
ON TOPIC: Ryan Porteous is not the best defender in the world, but surely he should be in the squad. He's certainly the equal of McKenna and Gallagher and Cooper. It'll be interesting to see how Cooper plays in the upcoming season. ProudScot
Surprising Brophy hasn’t been called up with us just down to Dykes as a striker now.

Gala Tartan Army (Borders)
McBurnie was not in squad for Sheffield Utd's friendly v Hearts yesterday so assume he has a knock. Paterson will have been brought in as a striker. I would have called up Fraser Hornby from u21s - made his debut today for Reims in Ligue 1 and looked promising whenever I have seen him. ErsatzThistle
Although I would never claim he was a particularly good player, Callum Paterson did an interview several months back where he came across as being really passionate about playing for Scotland, said playing for his country meant a hell of a lot to him and how he was hoping to get back into the squad again. I wish Ryan Fraser had an attitude like that. Right in at the deep end for Dykes. That will get him tied to Scotland permanently too, Australia won't be able to call him up then. daviebee
We thought our centre half and right-back options were bad too! When the blazes are we going to start producing decent strikers? I can't remember seeing such a dire selection in a squad. Are there any good youngsters anywhere? What happened to the boy at Celtic who became their youngest ever goalscorer - was it Jack somebody? I take it he got loaned out, stopped progressing and fell off the radar?

Think he went on loan to Forest Green Rovers last season and scored a few. Frustrating thing is Griffiths and Fletcher should be in squad if one pulled their finger out and the other made himself available again. ceudmilefailte
Glad Paterson has been called up, I thought there might have been a fall out after the injury he got in San Marino. Which makes me question even more why Clarke hasn't called him up for previous squads as a right back. He is streets ahead of the two he calls up even if the only time he plays there now is on international duty

Just looked FGR up. 4th tier of English fitba. He's got quite a record with Scotland U19's though - 11 goals in 19 appearances which isn't bad at all. Maybe getting near make or break time for him though if he wants to kick on.

Checking on who scored and he scored 5 and had five assists in 28 appearances. Of those games only 4 were as a forward. Not 21 until March so looking good in the English 4th tier isn't the end of the world

Should've started anyway considering he's been courted for over a year and it's not exactly a position of great strength or depth. You never know, a goal or two v Israel and suddenly he's the CF for the next few years and a great pick up. Forrest scored a hat trick v Israel so can't be that difficult. McBurnie looks like he'll be one of those who pulls out when he stubs his toe or sneezes (probably wise in these times) like a few others recently.
