I'm a support worker for individual with autism and learning difficulties. We serve 6 service users who all live independently. Most are very self sufficient, and just need a wee hand with cooking, financial matters, socialising even.

Brilliant mate. I play my Bagpipes every year at a massive Golf tournament that supports  children with autism put on by the Ottawa Police. . All money goes to the Autism foundation of Ottawa. They bring some of the kids every year and they march behind me. It's so heartwarming.. Good for you Kevie mate..

I am also totally comfortable with my understanding of the universe and our place in it.

That's the barrier that you've got to get past.

The truth is 'uncomfortable'.

ive been in a pump when we have gone off the road but the only real "rolling " of an appliance in my time was when the TL (turntable ladder)  rolled over coming round king street onto the castlegate and I know who was "driving" at the time and who was sitting next to him or lying down by the time they had finished....we had a few instances where pumps would go "off road" but not necessarily roll

cant remember that one.

GG was a driver at King street for a while and anderson drive probably easier to roll at the anderson drive as you had a hell of a lot more speed picked up by the time you got to logie.

I was in the front of a machine when it took out a bus shelter on the last stretch of Anderson drive heading to Grt northern road, I must stress I was in the front but not driving......

am pretty sure that growing up in 70s there were only the 2 fire stations in Aberdeen ? - cocket hat & king street by RGIT offshore survival ? - later at Altens , then new one at Nelson St (assuming that replaces old king st one ?) must be another one somewhere if theres 4?

i also seemed to recall that king st was more of a back up station at one point ? or is that pi$h - as they had old silver fire engines when cocket had were new red ones

the strike of early 80s - 'green godess' army fire engines before your time ?

I joined in 87 there was a strike in 2002 but it had selective days when we walked out the big strike was 77-78 when it was all out (except for the scabs)

Corrrect in the 70's there were only 2 stations in Aberdeen but King street was by far the busiest as it covered over to Torry and up to Altens and cove, tillydrone, city centre bridge of don  balmedie.

Anderson Drive probably had red ones first as that was where the workshops and Headquarters were stationed , give the older ones to King street because they had to go to torry, seaton tillydrone....

As Aberdeen got bigger with industrial estates and housing in the 80's and 90's it was taking longer for appliances to meet their attendance times at certain times of the day so they built Altens fire station in about 83 (I think) they built a retained station in Dyce on pitmedden road which changed to a full time station in the 2000,s which gives you 4 full time stations.Dyce has since returned to retained and is now the new headquarters.(cutbacks, moving to one service etc)

You must have been deemed 'essential', Ramy?

We actually are an essential service Scotty. I am off this week then on next week. Split the crews in half in case there is an infected person at my work. Therefore we dont lose everyone at once. Makes sense..

I turn scrap into gold 🙂

Officially known as the circular economy. Our facility recycles and finds reuse for preowned IT equipment. Everything from phones to enterprise class servers and storage.

Currently very busy due to most of europe working from home, thus making the demand for laptops very high.
