Off the cuff offer for Pet Shop Boys next week, never seen them, so gonna give it a go.

A (good) few years ago we went to see them at TITP purely because it was pishing down and they were in one of the tents.  I'd specifically said I had no intention of seeing them and went in just to dry out for half an hour but they were tremendous.  One of those bands you easily forget how many songs you know and they were very "singalongable" and put on a great show.

I kid you not, I’ve seen some great bands from my era, previous eras and even some that I wouldn’t consider seeing if it wasn’t for my kids, what a fucking show that was, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a gig that was as good as CD quality as that tonight.

Tennants voice is out of this world.

Debbie Harry at the Isle of Wight fest………. 77!!!!!

still kinda would.

I’ve mentioned this before on here but a couple of mates of mine have a Small Faces tribute band called the Small Fakers.    They were playing at the Hipshaker tent earlier in the day and Clem Burke joined them for All or Nothing.   Not the first time he’s played with them this year either as Glen Matlock and him joined them at the 100 Club earlier in the year.

Going to see them in the 100 club in October.

Enjoy, I’ve seen them loads of times - can take or leave the Small Faces, tbh, but they are very good at what they do, particularly Matt.

Can’t guarantee any former Sex Pistols or members of Blondie will be appearing.  They do often manage to do something a bit special when they play at the 100 club though.

Going to see them in Glasgow in November as well, the 100 club is just to say I've been to the 100 club😁

A legendary venue for sure but in truth it’s a bit shit.  Stage is in the wrong position and sight lines aren’t great.

I always take the piss with Daniel when they play the Classic Grand about how it used to be a porno cinema in the 70s and 80s

Just this morning, I've bought tickets to see SLOWDIVE in the autumn.

They completely passed me by in the 90's and only came to my attention about 5 years ago. I instantly fell in love with their music.

Just hope they play for longer than their usual 15/16 songs. They've certainly got the material to do at least a 2 hour set and with a new album on the way, they bloody ought to.

This thread is going to sound like me name dropping here but I used to work with two members of Slowdive and in fact was at one of their’s first wedding - his ex-wife is a very good friend.

Cool.

I wasn't there, but when The Cure celebrated their 40th Anniversary with a huge gig in Hyde Park (it might actually be on Netflix) Robert Smith wanted it to be like a one-day festival and he personally chose the bands he wanted to play.

I think it was Bob Dylan (or maybe Keith Richards) who once said "See the people you like? When you've listened to all their stuff, go and listen to the people they like".

That's what I did after Smith had put that line-up together. I checked them all out, but it was only Slowdive who grabbed my attention. I instantly fell for them and bought all their albums.

This morning, I bought tickets for London, but they're playing Glasgow too.

The other funny thing is that when they reformed a few years back, because I’m friends with Christian on Facebook, you could almost see the reformation playing itself out on there as the various members were all commenting on each other’s posts and the like.

The last time I met him, I bumped into him on the train coming back from a Mary Chain  gig.  He still had a day job as well and was telling me about playing festivals in Europe over a weekend, getting the plane back early on a Monday morning and going straight into work.  The rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle.

Have to say I prefer Monster Movie though.

I find it strange they don't often play and when they do, they don't play for very long, but maybe that's because they're usually playing festival slots. With this autumn being their own show on the back of a new album, I'm hoping for 2+ hours. They've certainly got the back-catalogue of material.

My top 3 bands for years were U2, The Cure (the miserable stuff) and Radiohead. Slowdive are serious contenders to overtake Radiohead.
