British🤮 Cup

Recommended Posts

David Moyes reacting to calls for English League Cup to be scrapped by having a British Cup and England's top league teams could withdraw if they want (its all about them). Not quite old enough to remember Anglo Scottish Cup but I assume it faded away from lack of interest. Got an early memory of Rangers playing Chesterfield.

Would be absolutely fantastic to go down and utterly destroy and pillage some shitey wee Brexit stronghold like Burnley with 7000 drunken IRA sympathising Celtic fans but the games would be a bit shite.

Surely thats why we have pre-season matches. 😀

I have a vague recollection that Hudderfield played Airdrie in some competition or another (which I always thought was the Anglo-Scottish Cup) but I checked on Wiki & we never entered it. I thought it was maybe 1971 time so slightly before I started going. It might have just been a friendly that stuck in my mind, but it's doing my head in now & I can't find any trace in any of the history books that I have. I could swear I remember seeing a programme for it though.

Yes you’re right. Forgot about that. And ‘we got battered’ is hardly a new story! I should have realised back then & taken up croquet or something.

Ardrie went on to reach the final where they got beaten by Brian Clough's Derby County. The same season that Derby won the league.

One of Ardrie's major achievements. Not so much for Derby.
