There won't be one for at least a year as it'll needed to be tested etc.

There is one going through clinical trials at the moment. More will follow. It will be fast tracked. But even if it works, it will probably be at least the end of this year before enough can be produced to start making a significant difference. Might help a wee bit next year but it won't be available soon enough to slow down this initial surge.

I guess the silver lining in all of this is that when we start playing competitive games again hopefully our new wonder kid Gilmour will have settled into the Chelsea team and will be more ready for his chance to take our midfield by storm.

He's not going to improve much if he ain't playing.

All football cancelled indefinitely.

This is where I realise that I don't have many more hobbies to turn to.

Made me think of an old joke where this guy goes to the Doctors , drops his trousers and displays his orange willy.

The Dr examines him thoroughly, asks lots of questions but is absolutely baffled as to the cause of this.

Eventually the Dr asks "do you have any hobbies?"

The patient replies " yeah, eating Wotsits and watching porn".

😊

Have the SFA made any announcements regarding this game yet?

UEFA are meeting on Tuesday to decide what to do about the playoffs and Euro 2020 so there will be no announcement from the SFA until then. Not a useful one anyway.

The playoffs obviously won’t go ahead this month and it’s almost guaranteed that the finals won’t start in June so I suppose the options are either to scrap the tournament altogether or move it to next year.

The only logical thing to do for me would be to scrap the Nations League and start the qualifiers in September (assuming football is back on by then). That way we could have the playoffs next March (or even before then) and hold the finals in June next year.

This was something that occurred to me - where do you fit these Nations League playoffs in?

If we assume that there's there no more domestic football this season and Euro 2020 is postponed for a year.

UEFA have already filled up all the slots for internationals in the second half of this year with Nations League games.   You could suggest that they are basically in a years time, so March 2021.   However, those slots are supposed to be used for WC 2022 qualifiers.  Messing around with them is going to cause havoc with the timetable for the 2022 World Cup.

That’s exactly why I think they will cancel the 2020/2021 Nations League and play the qualifiers intended for March and June next year during October and November this year and possibly cancel the September international break to let club football catch up.

Qualifiers can’t be cancelled but the Nations League can be.

I don't see club football catching up, I think the domestic season is finished as of now.

I know this is an exceptional case with an extended global suspension but it does highlight the problems of cramming the fixture list as full as its possible to be.

You may well be right about the current season being finished but there could be a delay to next season starting. Champions League and Europa League qualifiers start in July as does the league cup in Scotland.

Will football be back by July? Cancelling the September international break could allow clubs to play 3 extra matches if there is a delay.

Ah, misunderstood where you were coming from.  You're right though, even July looks optimistic for a resumption.
