Interestingly in countries like Hungary, Slovakia, Czechia, Slovenia etc... the older generation were very positive (relatively speaking) about the Russian vaccines and would have taken them in high numbers (for them) had they been made available.

That is what blew my mind when they played politics and blocked them...

So many people have died over this 'game'.

Only 36% of Russia is fully vaccinated as of 15/11. 44% partially vaccinated.

That's the third lowest rate in the whole of Europe, only Romania and Bulgaria have a worse rate . Not even the Russians want to take it it seems, which is disappointing cause it has passed all the trials now and looks good.

Empirically, a higher percentage of former soviet nations people are taking the EMA approved vaccines than Russian people are taking the Russian vaccine.

According to a lot of experts it will be all over the world now anyway. It was found in South Africa but might not have originated there as they have one of the best surveilance systems in place due to TB and HIV epidemics.

They've already done some tests and it's still showing up on the 3 LFT which was worry cause of it's genetic structure being quite a bit different.

The timeline for tests to be done on it, and then the effectiveness of vaccines and finally it's virulence is like a week, a fortnight then a month.

Nothing like an actual real event to make folk self-sort into their competence levels.

The results are alarming. The summary of the analysis states:

The most direct explanation is:
･ Complete vaccination increases the likelihood of death.

Of course, more indirect explanations are possible:
･ The higher the proportion of old people, the higher the vaccination rate and excess mortality. Therefore, the vaccination rate and excess mortality also correlate. (This explanation is not very plausible, however, as the proportion of old people would have to have changed significantly between 2016-2020 on the one hand and 2021 on the other.)

･ Higher vaccination rates are achieved through increased stress and anxiety in the country concerned, and the latter lead to higher numbers of deaths.

Further explanations are by no means excluded. Some of them may be backed up with numbers and should be investigated further. We are very grateful for suggestions of this kind.

I am not so sure. Sputnik V was the first vaccine and could have been made available well before Pfizers etc. That alone could have saved a lot of lives, being available early. I was actually going to go for it as I said before but then they blocked it due to politics but probably just grubby profit reasons as well.

It was very telling they blocked it and made us all wait for their (western) vaccines, even now they are still blocking it. Saving lives no so important then was it... but now they are really really worried about you so everyone must take theirs, or else... do me a favour.

Plus in the former soviet EU states the older generations all grew up with soviet vaccines and some would been inclined to take Sputnik whereas they are not so keen on the western ones. (And I don't blame them for that one little bit.) So it should have been immediately offered as an additional option to encourage even more people to get vaccinated right?

But no when it comes down to it, what is best went out the window, and instead let's allow people to needlessly die while they wait for us to get our (shoddy western) vaccines ready for maximum profit making. 

That whole episode really turned me off the western vaccines as well so it flipped me from being inclined to get vaccinated to inclined not to get vaccinated. So it really was a really poor move IMHO, still is, and reeks of corruption.

Are they saying 8 days of isolation from folk coming in?

All the folk i'm reading are saying it's too early to know what all these mutations mean in reality.

It's already here as well. We don't have the contact tracing to stop community spread. If it's more transmissable than Delta then we won't stop it. Look at what NZ were able to do till Delta emerged, although it might just out-compete Delta due to immunity evasion rather than it acrually having a higher reproductive value.
