Good on Northern Ireland for not taking any chances with their Care Home residents and going against the agreement to wait 12 weeks for the second vaccine. They clearly recognise that the number in Care Homes is relatively small but they are at significantly higher risk so have decided not to use them as guinea pigs.

This is the vitamin D thing i think ?

so ive lived here in Canada since 2006 and yes folk do take it ; but typically id say they were either

a/ more self aware / switched on healthwise

b/ hypochondriacs

ive yet to hear of a doctor prescribing to anyone i know ( although i usually dont get involved in those kind of chats)

in saying that i usually take them during the winter period as the wife suggests .....

bizzarely theres more sun here at moment than recent trip to Abz where dark i clock at 3.30 pm

I used to be a youtube scholar a bit as well. However once you go through one iteration of conspiracy theories and find out that none of the predictions came true you then have to shift your opinion from that.

Then you find out about welll established phenomenom like "Guided Apophenia" and realise how it can ensare you etc.

This is a great read if anyone has some spare time: https://medium.com/curiouserinstitute/a-game-designers-analysis-of-qanon-580972548be5

I find it eternally fascinating that conspiracy theorist go around calling everyone who doesn't buy these sheep. They appear to lack total self awareness.

They're buying into a narrative where they're not just as mundane and boring as the rest of us, but in actual fact they're special intelligent people who know what is really going on.

Look at Covid for instance, to be able to have an actual opinion in science you have to study for 4 years where you'll be continually assessed and at the end of each year have to take several examinations to check your knowledge before being allowed to progress. From there you'll then be sifted by merit and have to take a year or two writing about a specialist subject and tested vigourously for your Masters. After that you'll then compete for limited spaces in a phd programme and spend 3 years researching ,callaborating and studying with others in a narrow field of study. You'll have to spend that whole 3 years writing and evidencing a huge thesis, which will then have to be defended against a panel with decades of experience in the field. Then you'll start working somewhere and have direct hands on experience with the subject you decide to have an opinion on.

Or you could sit in a flat in Elgin and talk into your iphone and post it on youtube and make some ad revenue.

Ā

Hmmm I wonder which one i'll listen to.

It is worse than that. There are those that didn't do all of that but create a persona that looks like they are some sort of expert. Sometimes they are an expert but in an entirely different field but they are obviously really clever so must know what they are talking about. They then create a flashy website and write some books and start coining it in when the guy who doesn't want to be mundane starts sharing your videos and buying your books

A lot of those people have started deleting their tweets now. Must have had advice from a lawyer or maybe just realised how wrong they got it all.

I had to amend my post because I misread the end of yoursĀ šŸ˜†

Anyway - I really want to know how these people have spun theĀ Sweden herd immunity claim now that their situation appears to b e worse than the first wave which they did particularly badly in. No doubt they have found some way to prove that Sweden is still a roaring success story.

92 is the 3rd highest daily total in Scotland since the start of the pandemic.

The number of new cases seems to have plateaued, hopefully. They seem to have peaked around 8th Jan. Two weeks after xmas. We are now getting towards two weeks after that peak so hopefully hospital admissions will start to plateau soon, then deaths start to come down about a week after that? That's if we don't get another surge in cases.

Ā

Yeah wasn't downplaying it locally but more comment around the previous day the media were in a frenzy that the british army were coming to save us from ourselves in their biggest peacetime operation since WW2 - was half expecting see Phil Mitchell parachuting out of a Lancaster Bomber and dropping in to do an expose on the UKs most dangerous care homes with Danny Dyer narrating 'get the Ox inside yer you slag! Bosh the treacle luvs it!'.Ā  The number of new cases for Scotland has been below the other regions and is filtering through in the numbers.

Quick look at this morning's Reporting Scotland and we're back on not vaccinating as quickly as other regions but noting 90% care home folk are done. Ā

The Tories turned the vaccination program into a political battleground which shows how compliant the media are considering the current death rate here, infection rate, care home vaccinations etc but there's still folk who lap it all up. Ā Ā

I might not have watched the brandnewtube 10 stages of genocide by Henna Maria (Practitioner of Sacred Healing Arts), but I have read Ordinary men by Professor Christopher Robert Browning (Frank Porter Graham Professor Emeritus of History) and Blood and Soil by Professor Ben Kiernan (Director of the Genocide Studies Program at Yale)

Swings and roundabouts and all that.

Who is controlling this, who is implementing it? Everyone has read, watched or heard this pish for decades, why are the people doing it so utterly useless in getting it done? They have been trying it for longer than Iā€™ve been alive, yet seem to be no further along the road.Ā

Hopefully it won't get worse than that.

A friend of my folks' son has just died this week. Only in his 40s.

A friend of mine died on boxing day with covid. 54 years old and no issues.Ā

His wife and son had it as well but they are ok now.

The updatesĀ from her everyday were heartbreaking.
