What a load of bollocks you spout, I tested positive last Thursday & I can assure you it’s nothing like a cold.

Agreed, I caught it 3 weeks ago and still feeling the effects, it's like having a flu all the time for me and tire very easily so to say it's just a cold is bollocks, I could hardly move for 6 days so hopefully you won't ever get it as bad as that,, on the bright side, I didn't die eh?

Yep, I'm just in the recovery stage now and I was pretty ill for five days. This virus is no joke.

Seems going to be an interesting ride still, things ramping up again with 2 new lineages, although this is more about evolutionary adaption speed.

South Africa and Portugal have went through their BA4/5 cycles and fortunately wasn't too bad at all

We're approaching our own one soonish. Which is driving the slowdown of our own cases.

However doesn't seem too bad either. So hopefully things settling down finally.

How will we even know what this impact is anymore.

Not to alarm anyone but I’m currently sitting eighty foot atop a tree in Blair Drummond Safari Park and currently have a bit of an issue.  For a start, apart from being not great with heights, I would still be in hiding if I hadn’t been screaming ‘tits’ and ‘banana provider’ every time a moderately attractive potential future mate walked by below like a mad randy tourettes sufferer with limited vocabulary.  Instead now the relevant authorities are aware of my location and trying to get me down with tranquiliser darts and a keep net.

It’s a bit vague but think this all started when I snapped the wing mirror off a Toyota Prius to chuck at the fat fucker family trying to feed me hot dogs through the fence separating the park and safari.  From  there I have a recollection of climbing on the roof of a white Range Rover and really enjoying smearing my excrement into its paintwork before throwing some of it at anyone remotely looking vegan in appreciation of their efforts.

What really seemed to piss everyone off though, and antagonise the park authorities, was when I had a lazy half hearted wank on top of a minibus carrying scouts.  I even distinctly remember one of the kids saying the troop master had shown him how to do it last camp but it didn’t deter an angry mob from chasing after me with real gusto.

Luckily I managed to escape up this tree and think if I manage to get to nightfall I can escape via Lemur Lane out to the carpark and home to safety.  I’m not 100%, and everything is fluid at the moment, but worried this is Monkeypox so will do the responsible thing and self-isolate for 21 days plus won’t allow anyone else to touch my anus for a similar period just in case unless they wear gloves.

Stay safe everyone!

Made sure to sanitize my glow-stick so don’t think that’s where I got it.

I was wondering if we always get minor outbreaks of diseases but it never gets counted , then obviously folk the events of the last wee while means it suddenly get reported.

I guess i could check maybe but seems like a lot of effort.

Think that is correct. Plus 24 hour news a lot of time to fill.

No idea why i put "folk" into that sentence.

Yeah I was listening to a podcast and how the news ,now it is 24 hours, is not equipped to deal with anything other than EMERGENCY SITUATION type things.

Probably a bit of 24 hour news fear porn in it defo although heard a virologist saying going from a society of health restrictions to no restrictions is giving diseases/ virus opportunity to mutate and spread as folk's own systems are less well protected than before the pandemic so in the process of catching up with new exposures.

Just a quick google but there's 130 worldwide cases at the moment - there was 130 e-coli cases in South Wales in 2005 and 1200 measles cases in Swansea in 2013.  Can vaguely remember cover of both in the media but not the 'arrrrggghhhh!' variety of 24 hour news outlets.

Be interesting to see a list of more minor ones than that though like if there had been 3 cases of Guinea Pig rectal mumps in Swindon in 1987 that thankfully never spread and where media coverage was next to nowt.

I remember 20-25 years back reading something for a uni essay where the author was predicting that the news loop would spin ever faster until it reached 24 hour coverage and would end up eating itself in order to sustain its own appetite.  No idea who it was or what I was even on about but thought it was a load of bollocks at the time – now though looks like they absolutely nailed it and has stuck with me.

I've been listening to vincent racaniello's podcast this week in virology for over 2 years now.

Not listened for a few weeks as revising for exams and got a backlog , i'll listen to what he has to say about it when next out.

I'm sure changes in behaviours regarding health restrictions etc would then change outcomes in some way. Sort of makes sense.
