Ok, just curious, what do you believe has been happening since Sunday night?

Where is Johnson; what do you think is his real condition; which people are in on knowing his real condition?

Read my previous. It’s not that difficult.

OK, so he's live streaming from a 'closed unit' and will probably rise on Sunday.

Presumably this closed unit is in St Thomas' hospital... is it accessible to medical staff?

When did he enter this closed unit? (Sunday night or Monday afternoon?)

What condition is he in? (Does he have it mild/bad/normal/not at all?)

Who are 'his people'? (Who is in on it - the cabinet? Cummings? Security services?)

So is Raab faking it? Are named medics faking it?

Too many questions.

That's where he lives.  Technically, I think he actually lives at number 11 as that's a bigger flat.   When Blair became PM he swapped with Brown as at that time Blair had a family and Brown didn't.  Since then I think PMs have lived at 11 and Chancellors at 10.   Chequers is another option but I could see that going down really well if he buggered off there to self-isolate, think Catherine Calderwood x 1000.

Doubt it. The press hold the different governments to different standards and wouldn't bat an eyelid.

As for Calderwood, Reporting Scotland were STILL going on about it last night.  They got the woman's head on a pike so what more do they want?

Just back from the hospital here in Ottawa. Had my big toe nail.removed for a biopsy. I had to go as the specialist wanted it done asap. In saying that, I was very uneasy going to the hospital with this C19 going around. I shaved my beard off at my wife's request so I get a better seal with my mask. I also wore surgical gloves. I stayed fuck away from everyone. Thing that shocked me there were folk walking around, no mask, no gloves, touching shit and what not. I could not believe it. Maybe I just overreacted, but not a pleasant morning.

My personal take is that they are generally taking a view that saying as little as possible is the best strategy.

If, hypothetically, they think that his days are, or are likely to be, numbered, then disclosing that would cause damage to the markets, political instability, etc. So the easiest approach is to say all is well, until either all IS well (at least in terms of him being out of the woods, if not necessarily well) or he actually dies, at which point of course that has to be disclosed.

I suspect beyond his treatment team, & let's be honest, you'd have to have some very serious security clearance to be allowed to start sticking tubes, needles, drugs, etc., into him, I doubt anyone beyond a tiny handful of extremely close contacts will have any real idea of the prognosis.

If they think his days are numbered they are not saying as little as possible they are misleading the public as they are making out things are looking positive.

I would imagine that all the normal ICU beds in St Thomas' hospital will be in private rooms. The non ICU beds will be in bays of 4, 6 or 8. Boris will get a private room whether he needs it or not. This private room will just happen to have the ICU equipment in case he needs it. If we are to believe what we are being told, he doesn't need all the ITU facialities (e.g. ventilator) but it is there if required. I'm fairly sure that not all of the ITU beds in St Thomas' are being used at present so he isn't using up somebody else's bed. They still have spare capacity. But, if anybody thinks Boris won't get special treatment, they are just being naive. He will get everything that is required even if that means somebody else's life is at risk.

St Thomas' is also one of the few places in the country which has ECMO facilities. If he needs that he will get it. But if he gets to that stage then he will be in a very bad way indeed.

It goes without saying he should have a private room , for security as much as anything else.
We dont know the situation regarding bed availability  at St Thomas’s , who else is in the same condition as him and in ICU ?
I dont think anyone is being naive, just calling out the ‘ we are all in this together ‘ bullshit .
Apparently he is now mentally able to make and sign off on big decisions and is accessible to his team. And still in ICU.

I know i must sound like a dug with a bone on this but it has annoyed me. I am no saying any more on the subject.
I really hope he pulls through and I can move on to moaning about something else,

St Thomas' have not filled all their ICU beds yet. That might change, but I'm guessing that, by the time it gets to that stage Boris will have either recovered or died. He has probably got about 10 days to do one or the other.

Raab just said he hadn't spoken to Johnson since he took over as acting PM. Does that mean 3 days ago?

Raab says "I’ve got all the authority I need to make the relevant decisions."

Meanwhile in other news I see 'Germany is sending 60 mobile respirators to the UK after the UK's ministry of defence asked its NATO partners, including the German Bundeswehr, for help'

After a call for help from the London Bundeswehr, ventilators are delivered to the UK
In the UK, the government is concerned about a collapse of the health system. After a call for help from London, the Bundeswehr is now delivering respiratory equipment to the Kingdom

I think there's very little power that the UK PM has sole authority to exercise.  It's not a presidential style system where there are defined powers, authorities and checks on that.

Constitutionally, the U.K. elects a parliament and that parliament appoints the PM as their representative.   Then there are certain powers which the government exercises under Royal Perogative.

Most of the time, this is all pretty much academic as due to the electoral system which generally means the party of government has a majority and can pretty much get their business through.  We saw in the last couple of years what it's like when that's not the case.

i imagine Dominic Raab can pretty much do what he wants from a legal perspective.  From a political perspective,it's unlikely he'll do anything controversial.

That is amazing.  Who would have thought that a side effect of Covid-19 was to increase your cognitive reasoning abilities.

I look forward to hearing him reverse Brexit.

😂

Well apparently  he’s out of ICU now so I can sleep peacefully tonight !

Speaking to someone who works at the Vicky in Glasgow they are saying the hospital is relatively quiet.

There is a strange thing going on whereby a lot of folk who would go to A&E are now not doing so due to fear of covid. I saw an article saying that the number of treatments for possible heart attacks and strokes has plummeted. It really does make you wonder about just how much of the pre-covid regular A&E activity was really ever necessary.

This may not last of course if things start getting really bad.

We had to take our daughter to a&e yesterday, was quite a surreal experience, I was allowed to be with her for the initial blood pressure and temperature being taken at the front door, but she had to go through to reception herself and we were waiting in the car for her.

Seen 3 people walk in for about the 4 hours we were in the car park and 2 of them were sent away again.

I’m just finishing shaving my beard off too, not so I could wear a mask at work, but just so I could try and look at least half professional.

My wife said I looked like a fucking tramp.

Kinda the same for me today, probably more uncomfortable for your daughter mind you. My wife took me to the hospital for a biopsy and minor surgical procedure this morning. They would not let her in the hospital. I gave my name at the screening desk at the front, and my wife could not even sit in the waiting room. I had to call her when I was done and met her at the car park. As you say DD, very surreal. I was not happy being there, but had to be done..

🤣🤣. I love my beard, my wife hates it, so guess what, she wont let me grow it back now, even though I found another chin when I shaved..

So, it seems Stanley Johnson has been self-isolating in Devon - even while his own son is in intensive care in London.

Apparently he said (on radio) that his son needs to rest & that becoming ill has "served an amazing purpose in that it's got the whole country to realise this is a serious event".

🤔

Cant imagine the UK is much better.

Wow, there is massive sh!t storm coming their way. It's actually heartbreaking to contemplate what that means.

The drone footage of the Potter's Field graves in NYC is also heartbreaking.
