daviebee
Stuart Findlay's recent debut goal got me thinking. Who else has scored on their first appearance? My memory only goes back to the early 70's so discounting Jim McCalliog at Wembley 67 and in no particular chronological order... Willie Pettigrew v Switzerland Ian Wallace v Bulgaria Joe Craig v Sweden Steve Archibald v Portugal Mo Johnston v Wales Charlie Nicholas v Switzerland Davie Dodds v Uruguay Frank McAvennie v Australia Kirk Broadfoot v Iceland Kris Boyd v Bulgaria Danny Wilson v Faroes Chris Burke v Bulgaria Stevie Crawford v Ecuador John Robertson (Hearts) v Switzerland Stuart Findlay v San Marino Gary Mackay v Bulgaria John Collins v Saudi Arabia Any I've missed? In 2 of the above cases, who were the players who scored 2 minutes into their debuts, one particularly famously, and enjoyed a 100% winning record in all their appearances? Davie Dodds had 100% wining record if I recall correctly. 2 games 2 wins?

Joe Craig was one - he actually scored before he even kicked the ball! Some story. Never picked again after that. Davie Dodds got 2 caps but we lost to NI in his 2nd one. He didn't score 2 minutes in either.

I'll be quite impressed if I got all the ones from 1970 onward. Sure there must be a few more though.
Orraloon
Denis Law. Henry Morris scored a hat-trick on his debut, never got another game. That's how tough the competition was in those days.

Not really, it was really more about how incredibly stupid the selection committee was. 56 minutes ago, daviebee said: 2 before I was born and 3 while I was too young to really care. ErsatzThistle
Dougie Freedman is officially credited with scoring a goal on his debut vs Latvia in 2001. However, if you watch the footage you'll see that it's clearly a Latvian own goal and Freedman shouldn't be credited with it. 10 minutes ago, dandydunn said: Funny that, he was on off the ball today and they were talking about it. I always thought Freedman should get called up around 95-97 when we were stuck with Gordon Durie or John McGinlay
