Jeez a Midfield of McTominay, McGinn and McGregor should be able to perform and keep a shape to a required standard both offensively and defensively against Kazakhstan and Cyprus. McGregor and McTominay as the base should be enough against most sides, I would only put in a specialised Defensive Mid against better nations than us. Anyway McGregor almost plays a similar role to Jack right now, in fact Jack has been getting forward more than McGregor recently with Davis protecting. As Roy Keane said a Midfielder should pretty much be able to do a bit of everything and between McGregor, McTominay and McGinn they all can

Might play in a similar position on the pitch but they offer completely different skills. McGregor sets the tempo, is high energy but is lightweight and not a defensive midfielder.Ā

Jack is aggressive, breaks up play and gets f***ed in about the opposition. Room for them both in a Scotland team but they certainly don't do the same thing on the pitch.Ā

Might not be popular opinion but I'd have a midfield without mcginn

Have Ryan Jack's performances been that good in Europe? IF they have there's no reason why he should be given a chance at DM. I see MCGinn and MCTominey more as box to box midfielders. Ryan Jack can sit and protect the back four.Ā

However the only evidence i have of Jack playing great in Europe is the word of rangers fans on here and not the reasonable ones, the zoomers. Anyone else watched Rangers is Europe?

He has played very well for us and has massively stepped up his game this season. He had a poor mistake for the Porto goal in the away tie but other than that he has been good. His drive, work rate and aggression have always been his main strengths but as I said he has stepped up his game and worked hard to improve on the passing, shooting and ball retention sides of his game.

Ā

McGinn/McTominay are better players in a superior league but that doesn't always translate to international football. Neither have put in many great performances for Scotland. These next couple of games should be about trying to find a team for the playoffs. I believe guys like Jack, Gallagher, etc should be given a chance to show what they can do.Ā

Ā

Truthfully I can see him as a make shift right back for the playoffs. Every RB we've tried has been woeful, so I can see Jack playing there in the playoffs.

Only a month or two out then!Ā  Still encouraging that he's getting little bits of the action.

I thought that when Kante came back he might be back to the U23s but he seems to be still with the firsts for the time being

I'll be honest I've not seen too much of Jack but what I have seen I've never seen him get fucked in about opposition in an aggressive manner. Where he gets this hard man image from I don't know he's certainly not cut from the Roy Keane cloth

Just out of interest, which of the current squad do you think do "turn up for Scotland"?Ā

Not much but forrest is in a different league, he looks lost or disinterested in playing for scotland with exception of 2 matches.

Hes been.like that since he was first capped

Cooper went off injured after 72 minutes. McKenna and who else at the back on Saturday if heā€™s injured?Ā

I know I go on about stats a bit much and the importance of a player like Cooper. but in the 72 minutes he was on he had more possession of the ball, more touches of the ball, made more passes(91 % success rate) and won more headers than any one else did in the full 90.

Hope he's fit.

Iā€™m hopeful him and McKenna will form a solid partnership.Ā

Don't think he's mental like kean but there is absolutely no doubt he's an aggressive midfielder.Ā

But then again you wouldn't know that as you've not seen too much of him playingĀ
