mccaughey85
What's everyone's thoughts on this proposal, the spl invite the Irish teams to join our lowest tier and work their way up. Obviously shamrock rovers etc wouldn't be massive boosts to our league system initially but there could be potential for them to grow into clubs the size of hibs or hearts and then the TV and sponsorship deals would be much larger and our clubs may be better able to compete with other leagues for better players thus raising the standard of football. ErsatzThistle
Not for me. I reckon most Irish fitba fans wouldn't like it either.

Having Griffiths tie Celtic scarves on goalposts all over Ireland would have the troops back on the streets over there again 🤯
Terry Munro
We have teams in the championship that are bigger clubs than Shamrock Rovers, who are their biggest. Can't see much point other than having away trips where we can glorify the IRA through song without worry of arrest.
sbcmfc
I don’t think they’d add a great deal and the baggage that comes with them. Fuck that!

Cos you don’t get to glorify the IRA in Scotland. 😂

It's the potential of the clubs over there that I think would be good to tap into, bohemians and cork city etc could become much larger clubs if they were playing in a better league with big matches against Aberdeen and hibs etc. The local Irish population could start following there own clubs instead of epl ones or the old firm and it would mean we get bigger teams in our top flight and would generate a bigger TV deal and sponsorship. That's a harsh thing to say, perhaps you have never known anyone with mental health problems otherwise you wouldn't say something like that. All it was is a suggestion about the league structure in Scotland, you have then gone and sadly turned it into a mental health issue. Obviously you don't like the idea and wish to belittle me by suggesting I have mental health issues. Learn and grow my friend as mental health issues are real problems that affect many Scots and discussing the Scottish league structure has little to do with mental health. morrie21
No thanks to this. The Challenge Cup has been somewhat ruined in my opinion by including Welsh and Irish teams in it. I wouldn't like to see Scottish football further diluted by bringing teams from elsewhere into our league system.

It’s been a disaster from start to finish Let Ireland be Ireland and Scotland be Scotland eh. We have enough teams who think they’re from elsewhere and want to desert us without us just replacing the fuckers The pyramid place is in place for a reason, if and when the New Firm and sky decide to upsticks and leave then they should be replaced by SCOTTISH clubs to compete in the SCOTTISH leagues

Toepoke
Was in the Lord Nelson yesterday on a subcrawl. I got the impression the clientele would welcome a shared league with part of Ireland anyway...
