daviebee
Good article on the BBC website about it - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47903212 Anybody else go to any of the games (or were even born back then)? Funny how few of the players really "made it".
McTeeko
I was at the semi-final at Tynecastle v Portugal. Crowd was mental, about 3000 locked out! Figo, amongst others, played in that game. Blew it in the final mind you, but what a great couple of weeks it was 👍

It was totally stowed and obviously unsafe. Not that long after Hillsborough too. Reckon we got a wee "hame toon" help in that game with an offside if I mind right. Interesting to see how things turned out for Portugal's star man Gil. He was one of these guys that was so good he only had one name. Another notable player from that tournament was Claudio Reyna of the USA. But aye, great couple of weeks. Blew the Saudis away in the final when we were competing on equal fitness levels. Had we gone 3-0 up with the penalty we'd have been champs. No Scotland side would blow a 3-goal lead with 20 minutes to go...
Toepoke
Mind sitting in the old main stand with ma faither for the final. Unbelievable crowd that day. The boys just ran out of steam. Still, 30 years on and I haven't seen a Scotland team in another penalty shoot out yet...
ironbrew
Was this the last/only time we`ve hosted a world/European men`s finals? Good crowd at Germany v Spain Under 21 final tonight in Udine. Under 21 in 2021 is Hungary/Slovenia but maybe we could bid for 2023. Maybe just us using as many stadium as permitted but not Ibrox,Parkhead or Hampden (if still in use then) except for first Scotland game and final. UpTheSlope
To blow a two-goal lead they had nobody to blame but themselves

Orraloon
The phrase "men against boys" was never more fitting.
