One of the news programmes - Channel 5 I think - ran a feature in the run up to the last World Cup. It focussed on teaching Russians working in the service sector such as railway staff how to smile at the visitors to their country. It seems it is just in their DNA not to look happy even though inwardly they may be.

TamfaeAyr
On the Marital status section, when you select Married , it then gives an empty section to fill in, name address DOB etc, but it doesn't state whether it's yours or your spouses details they want. Anyone with a approved visa , tell me what details they entered here?

captain
All very straightforward, was in and out in 5 minutes on Wednesday, probably the quickest £115 ever spent! Hardest part was getting parked. Found it helpful trawling back through this board, some good advice for anyone unsure.
Will-i-am77
Yeah l agree with last 2 posters. Was very quick process, just the finger printing took the longest. For the record the dark haired lass who served me was really nice and was smiling away!
stirlish
Are there 2 different visa applications online? I filled one in and so did my nephew. He has a place to attach photo but mine doesn't? Any advice welcome.

I don't know if there's 2, but you definitely need to get a passport photo taken and attached so I'd follow the same one as yer nephew. As I recall the online form was in a format which did not indicate the appropriate part for the picture to be attached to. This was only obvious once I had printed the paper copy. The Bunnet
Did mine in Manchester last week, it took less than 5 mins including finger prints, paid for speedy, and here today. The consulate was the smallest office in centre of city. Wee Russian guy was brand new, and spoke better English than me.
