Yep that is pretty much what I read a few years ago now. I did not know surgery can produce the exact same results.

If you are obese or diabetic or both you should watch it. He tells you the way out of it. Low carb diet. And he says it clearly - no sugar at all.

By the way fasting can take you into ketosis but I think they say you are better to get into ketosis first while eating a high fat / low carb diet and then start to do intermittent fasts and that really turbo charges it.

This shit is really the tip of the iceberg. As you mentioned the policy decision to make fat in your diet an enemy and instead push carbs was catastrophic... we are now starting to see the long term consequences.

I work as a psych nurse and it’s fucking criminal how we treat patients in relation to nutrition and T2D. So many patients on insulin that makes them put on weight and they are given biscuits and cordial throughout the day, with zero education on how diet affects their insulin levels and blood sugars.

T2D, if not already, will be an epidemic in years to come.

A far more serious problem than coronavirus. So far anyway.

This problem is almost entirely dietary related though. It traces back to the health policy to advise people that things like fat, red meat, eggs etc were bad for them and that they should replace them with carbohydrates (essentially, as protein stayed the same).

People can reverse type II just by changing what they eat.

I am actually very suspicious of the reasons this bad advice was given. A skeptical person might notice that it served the interests of factory food companies. I wonder if that is why even now when this 'epidemic' is really emerging (there will be hundreds of thousands more who will be 'pre-diabetic' as well) that they still do not go back and admit the advice was bad. (I think they maybe did but very quietly.)

Sugar being the worst carbohydrate of all IMO. We get more than enough carbohydrates from a normal balanced diet without whacking in loads of extra sugar.

I see they are now trying to convince us to consume less protein under the guise of helping to save the planet. That's one piece of advice I will be ignoring.

I'm not sure about being able to reverse diabetes just by changing diet. It can certainly go a long way to preventing it in the first place, or reversing it if caught in the early stage. But I do think that the medical profession is being genuine when they say that after a certain stage is reached it can only be controlled by use of drugs. I think there is a genuine effort by medical folk (at least in Scotland anyway) to try to treat diabetes by change in lifestyle (exercise is also thought to be very important) before resorting to drugs.

“Eat regular meals. Make sure you have three meals a day. Always have breakfast and spread the rest of your meals throughout the day. Avoid skipping meals. This all helps keep your blood sugar levels steady and manage your appetite.”

Strange advice I reckon for type 2D, which is definitely curable depending on were you get your information.

Read this... mind blowing. I knew the advice was wrong but I did not know about the buried data and the absence of trials before the advice was given.

Dietary recommendations were introduced for 220 million US and 56 million UK citizens by 1983, in the absence of supporting evidence from RCTs.”

I came to the conclusion a while ago that starting in the 80's we were all deliberately given health advice in the UK that was the exact opposite of healthy. Big 'food' companies played a big part as well.

Came across this kidney specialist who talks about different ways to treat type 2 diabetes.

Some may find this interesting.

Absolutely correct about mainstream and false information - we are seeing it now with corona virus.

My aunt reversed her diabetes somewhat by simply cutting sugar and eating mainly far and protein.   Keto diet works.  Cut carbs.

The 80s and 90s was all about cutting fat but the food companies added sugar to all their low fat products for taste reasons.
