Commentary is embarrassing. Jonathan Pearce cheer-leading for France urging them to get an equaliser to force extra-time and tire out the USA or France for the semi against England.

Aye the English commentator for Australia TV is the exact same.

Nike have announced that the USA Women’s home jersey is now their bestselling shirt of all time in one season sales.

Outselling kits such as Nigeria’s era-defining and massively hyped 2018 World Cup jersey alongside ever-popular shirts such as Brazil and Barcelona, the USA Women’s shirt has become the highest-selling jersey sold in one season on Nike’s website.

“The USA Women’s home jersey is now the No. 1 soccer jersey, men’s or women’s, ever sold on Nike.com in one season,” said Nike CEO Mark Parker. “The exposure is driving outstanding sell-through in kits, high-performance bras and lifestyle extensions,” he added.

The figures emphasise the rise in the popularity of the women’s game globally, with Nike also becoming the biggest seller of bras in Northern America for the first time in the brand’s history, as well as increasing wholesale revenues in the women’s segment by 11%, up to about $7.4 billion this year.

Parker continued, “It’s hard to overstate how important this year has been to the evolution of the women’s offense at Nike”. The brand have no plans in slowing down on prioritising women’s sport, with VP GM of Nike Women’s in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa stating that serving women will continue to be a priority. “You’re going to see more and more of Nike looking at making sure that women, whatever sport they play, have the right product to play confidently in.”

The USWMNT take on England in tonights World Cup Semi Final in Lyon, where the Lionesses will be looking to go one further than the men’s side did in Russia last year. The USA head into the game as firm favorites, looking to lift the World Cup for a record fourth time in France.

I know I've been doing a bit to promote the women's game but still surprised by this!

https://www.theguardian.com/media/2019/jul/03/england-world-cup-defeat-to-usa-watched-by-117m-tv-viewers

Doubt if it will have much effect on the crowds in the Scottish club games although Celtic and Rangers are becoming bigger players which might help. currently have Forfar, and Stirling in a top division dominated by a Glasgow City team, who, let's be honest I doubt any one has any real connection with

Not sure but I think this season was the first time Man Utd entered a women's team in England so the bigger names in mens football were becoming interested even before the world cup.

But with shirt sales of the USA top reported as Nikes top seller their must  be a market out there to invest in,. can see loads signing up for the Celtic Womens second strip next year.

Interestingly  Angelsy played the Western Isles in front of 400 in a home game a couple of weeks ago in the Island games so perhaps the game might become of interest to people  regionally a bit like the mens game in the good old days.
