Rab The Crab
With Fletch probably out there’s a slot available up front. Id imagine McBurnie will step in, chance for him to cement a starting place although I’m not convinced he’s good enough despite his goals for Swansea. Burke would be an interesting choice given his pace and he's hit the ground running at Celtic. But McBurnie feels like the guy who's earnt the chance. To be fair to him he's only had 3 real games for us. Costa Rica, with a very weird line up behind him, Richie and Cairney playing wide and the only 2 tasked with supplying him. Mexico with a completely inexperienced side thrown together. and european champions Portugal. Not exactly good games to assess a player. Play McBurnie and if after 50/60mins he's not doing the business then bring Burke on.
hampdenroarpod
Don't want to be the bearer of bad news but McLeish and McFadden are having to try hard today to convince Allan McGregor to be included in the squad.

Why doesn't he want to be included? if he needs persuading, he shouldn't be asked again

Curious, but why would you pick Celtics second choice keeper ahead of their first? If Mcgregor is out, and possibly even if he is fit, this is the perfect chance to introduce a new keeper. McGregor, whilst our best keeper by some distance was lucky to be welcomed back last time so if this is true I’d tell him to poke it. Think we've seen the last of the thumb in a Scotland shirt to be honest. If he comes back for Celtic it'll be at the tail end of this season or maybe not till next season. After that I can imagine it'll take him a good 6 months to get up to full speed and earn his place back in the squad. Given that he's 29 in the summer and that we've been doing rather well without him (in the last few games anyway), his window of opportunity with the national team is rapidly fading away. Get him in for the free kicks alone.

If Burke was to start up front I think we’d see a change of tactics, I don’t see him as a target man. McBurnie probably has more ability to fulfil the Fletcher role. Beyond those 2 I’m struggling to think of anyone who could come in.
csinclair
I'd have to go with Harper or Brophy for the final forward spot in the squad and Paterson would be in as a utility player so you know he could do a job if needed.

Jack Harper and Jordan Rhodes are the two likely ones to get calls that I can think of. Someone mentioned Greg Stewart? Really tho? He's not scored in 3 months, has he? Cummings has been sat on the bench in League One, which is sad for him. So you get into slightly silly calls, like May, Boyd, Shankland, Dobbie or Hardie. Honestly can't see past Rhodes or Harper for the 3rd striker spot.

I am a big fan of Rhodes but I don't think its going to happen for him for us, his style just doesn't suit us, I'd have him as a squad player if he were in form but that isn't this season so far and age is against him now, Marc McNulty has a better chance of late. I’d get Harper in the squad for experience and to have a look at some point. Rhodes just hasn’t played enough games to be considered in my opinion. Why is no one suggesting Paterson up front. 4 goals in 14 games for one of the worst teams in the EPL is not a bad return. He has the second best statistics for aerial duels won in the league.
