TAMB1
For Info. Sections have now been created in the away section for all the away games so fill yer boots.
adamntg
Pretty good fixtures. Russia games are early in the season, would’ve been bad away in June. Likewise, avoided the summer for San Marino and Cyprus away. Decent chance of starting with 9 points before the tough games get going. Only disappointed there’s not a reasonable trip I could take the kids on in October.

Ormond
I’m booked up to stay in Scotland for 5 weeks Feb to end of March. I was hoping for a home game but alas.
Tartan Chris
Good schedule imo. Reminds me a bit of playing Faroes and Lithuania first up in 2008 qualifying. 6 points and that put pressure on Italy who had a slow start. Russia will obviously have Belgium in the first three so potential to open up a bit of a gap on them ahead of the home game. 9/9 start would mean there's a pretty good chance of it being taken to last game. runningtings
Do San Marino actually play in San Marino? Seem to remember them playing in Italy in the past. Think we'll do Belgium and San Marino this time round.

The one v England in 1993 was played at Bologna's ground. Edit; Took 70 minutes to score v them, Matt Elliott's first. Back when memories of Scotland playing at major tournament were only 2 years old. Edited December 2, 2018 by Tartan Chris

Went there for the game in 2000 which was in October. It was dead and pished down with rain. Imagine it would be the same in March.
KirkieRobRoy
In terms of home games we're getting a Saturday game and a Sunday game. Probably at 10pm right enough. Monday Night for Belgium? I see 40,000 of us in a single queue for the one 75 that First Glasgow can be bothered running in the evenings. come ten o clock.
Toepoke
The Cyprus game at Hampden will be almost 50 years to the day from the 8-0 win against them where Colin Stein scored 4 (our last hattrick for 46 years).

weekevie04
18pts from the first and last three? The top two right after each other, and if we can beat Russia at Hampden, we could have a wee lead. Not that I'm getting ahead of myself, as we could end up having a disaster in Kazakhstan to start off! Like the group, I'm reasonably happy with the fixtures and Kazakhstan/Cyprus at home along with San Marino could be a rocking/nerve racking way to end the group knowing if we win them we might qualify (a bit like the Nations League campaign). Let's see how it goes though. 3pts in Kazakhstan hopefully is first up! Russia start with Belgium, Kazakhstan (a) then San Marino, Cyprus (h) Then us at Hampden! Ormond
Do Belgium play all their games in the one ground or have they been known to move around?

They put all them winter & travel rules in place and the best the world's slowest "computer" can come up with is Kazakhstan (which literally borders Outer Mongolia) to San Marino within 4 days in just over 3 months' time. Gutted. Looking at accuweather for March can be in early to mid 20’s at the time of year in Kazakhstan.
Texas Pete
1 hour ago, Ormond said: Do Belgium play all their games in the one ground or have they been known to move around? They play most of their big games in Brussels. They’ll probably play San Marino in Bruges or Liege but those grounds hold less than 30k. I think Belgium only has one all seater stadium that can hold more than 30,000. The King Baudouin Stadium (or whatever they call Heysel these days) is the only realistic option for Scotland and Russia I think.
ParisInAKilt
Good chance to get 9 points before we travel to Belgium. Anything less would be shite.

Some folk have short memories. We get two decent results, against two reams about the same level as us, and all of a sudden we have 9 points in the bag without even kicking a baw. Haha it’s not really based on the past 2 games, more that we really need 9 points or we’re up against it from the start. But it’s Scotland, just as much chance as 4 points from
Scotsdeutsch
Given Scotland have less pressure on us in this campaign, its a decent draw. Our main goal usually is just to secure a playoff these days so we should go into these games with a free hit mindset. We get a free hit at Russia and Belgium at home. Might aswell try our luck. If not Finland await & if we get through that we're one tie away from euro 2020.
