Other than confusion (and still low crowds in our case) I don't thing we've managed to find a major flaw in the system itself. I'll withdraw that. The 3 days between the play-off semis and the final is nuts.
sbcmfc
Pay at the gate for the final. So we could end up with Scotland v Serbia in Finland at 3 days notice.... They announce the venue 3 months before, but is drawn, so could be any of the 4 competing countries, is that right?

'Regulation 17.04: For each play off final, a draw is conducted in advance to determine which semi-final winner will play at home' So, we have a 50/50 chance of the final being at Hampden if we win the semi. However, if the other semi get the luck of the draw we wont know whether we will be going to Oslo or Belgrade until 3 days before!?

You’d be better knowing where it was, even if it ended up neutral, could end up with no fans there or 1000 fans gambling on booking Serbia for a game in Oslo or vice versa. Exactly. Would be even better if a draw was made to decide a single host for both semis and the final - less travelling all round.
sbcmfc
Aye, Thursday - Sunday in 1 country, maybe even 1 city and the 2 runners up could play a friendly.
Bobby Russell's Lovechild
Oh look, uefa (possibly) moving the goalposts so Germany doesn't get related, what a surprise

The reasoning behind it seems to be that the teams in groups of 3 have got to play friendlies on their 2 free dates, and these friendlies aren't attracting crowds like the competitive matches are (not quite true for us as we played Belgium and Portugal in our free dates and had more at those games than we did against Albania but less than we did against Israel). If it changed to Leagues A, B and C being made up of 4 groups of 4, I think it would work well - especially as nations start to realise the value of the competition. We could keep the play-offs for the Euros. It would leave just 7 teams in League D. They wouldn't have a play-off for a finals spot but would have games against teams of a similar level. Two groups (one group of 4, one group of 3), with the two winners going up and the 2 worst from League C going down. The extra spot made available from League D not having a play-off would go to the host nation of the next Euros. From a Scotland POV, as it stands, we would end up in a group with Germany and Russia next time (Iceland and Czech Rep best case). Under the proposed changed we could end up with Czech Rep, Northern Ireland and Hungary (Russia, Turkey and Bulgaria worst case). Again, moving the goalposts is not good but I think it would be a good move for the long-term.

The actual draw for Euro 2020 is end of November. So we’ll have 4 months sitting on the draw still not actually sure if we’ll qualify or not. We’ll be entered into the draw as ‘Play-off Winner’. That’s pretty brutal. 4 months ffs 😩

The play off draw should take 10 minutes tops. Maybe they need an extra week to sort through the broon envelopes? And just to add to the confusion, there could be an addition final tournament draw on 1st April 2020, if required. Not an April fools joke apparently.
