Yes that would be enough to win the group. But there’s more than that to think about.

A draw v Albania and a win v Israel will very likely see us away from home for the first/semi final playoff.  We’d struggle to win that. Two wins will probably mean a home tie instead. I’d fancy our chances.

The difference is massive.

We need to win both.

We're never winning both

But if we put out a similar formation to Israel away we'll likely lose

Albania are shite, we should be going there to win.

Albania were shite against us at Hampden in a downpour

They beat Israel at home who put us out of our misery in Haifa

In Albania they will be difficult

Jamie Macdonald called up.

Very unlikely to feature but I think I'd have preferred a younger 'keeper to get called up - maybe one from the u21s who don't have a match?

However, he probably deserves it on form.

Bizarre thing is, his form has been poor last couple of weeks and talk of him getting dropped!

He's been outstanding last couple of years for us.

Biggest travesty is Liam Kelly continually overlooked for the 21s but old firm reserve goalies getting the nod.

A younger keeper would have made more sense. Alternatively, what's the deal with David Marshall?  An experienced keeper at international level who has just kept clean sheets in successive games for his club.

A bit off topic, but is his name "Alexander"?

If so, why does he call himself "Zander" and not "Xander"? There's no "Z" in Alexander.

Not really important, just something that annoys me.

Don't mention what annoys you on this place, you'll just be met with a barage of bell ends offended by whatever offends you. 😆

It's spelled phonetically.

People say 'Zander' and not 'Ander' as the 'x' has already gone with 'Alex'.

Alex-(z)-ander

The 'lazy z' comes from where the 'x' and the 'a' meet.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway is Mulgrew healthy?

Would like top see McKenna and Devlin (for mostly selfish bias reasons).

That's all fine and good, but where does the "z" come from? Out of thin air? Pronounce "Alexander". There is clearly a "z" sound, so where does that come from? The "x", of course. It doesn't come out of thin air.

Not convinced? How about "(Ale)Xander Harris" from Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Xander Cage from the "xXx" franchise?

1) Never thought I'd see a Buffy reference on here. Good man.

2) Sometimes shortenings of names have different spellings. Depends on personal preference I guess? C.f Madge or Peggy for Margaret, or even Alec for Alexander.

3) It's starting to look like almost everyone on here agrees on 8 of the starting 11!

McGregor

Tierney

McKenna

Mulgrew

Robertson

McGinn

McGregor

Fraser

I think that's actually a really positive sign. That's a solid group of guys to build a team around if we can get them playing together regularly. Then all we have to do is figure out the other three, and it seems that ideally it would be 3 out of Griffiths if he can sort his troubles out, Armstrong if he can get some game time for his club, Cairney if he is keen to represent us, Christie who looks to be on the rise, and Forrest.

Let's see if McLeish is on the same wavelength as us. Though I've got a terrible feeling he's gonna stick with McDonald.
