In fairness if people are mumping and moaning about the 3 centre backs and 2 wing backs this could be a free hit to rediscover just how to play a proper functioning tried and tested formation and how that will benefit

Could be 4-5-1 with Naismith dropping back a bit or coming in off the left

Thats what Id think.

In the circumstances the team more or less picks itself. At least Armstrong is back. But why persist with Naismith?  He is not the future. Ryan Christie is worth a run.

Maybe he is aiming for a blend of youth and experience. No need for all the team to be youngsters. + We need some leadership on the park.

For me the main thing is, if it's not working, and/or the older players are tiring, then change it before it's too late.

OK.

It looks like:

                         Gordon

O'Donnell   Hendry   McKenna   Robertson

Forrest    McGregor   McGinn    Armstrong

                Naismith     McBurnie

4-4-2? We'll probably lose 0-5

Probably lose 0-6 if we played 3-5-2 so any thing better than that and I am right😛

Haha you are indeed very pessimistic, and I don’t blame you in the current climate.

But, the players we are producing at age group level now, don’t only compete and get results against some of the top nations, we also play possession football against them. And even at 16/17/18 years old some of these boys are getting first team exposure, Cochrane at Hearts is injured at the moment, but Levein has already said he’s the best midfielder at the club.

and wont be first choice when fully fit. Problem is Mr 4-6-0 got money to spend at hearts and went down the foreigner route again. Last year when he didn't he gave loads of youngsters a chance, including Cochrane.

We have to remember it's an experimental side for Portugal too, with several players changed from their last match.

So we should see this as an opportunity, especially for the youngsters to stand up and make an impression.
